Punk's comic debut
I expected better, just from the buzz surrounding this book. Nobody expects a pro-wrestler to be a brilliant comic book writer, but Cullen Bunn can oftentimes really pull it out with some brilliant scripting, and I hoped that Punk and Bunn together might put together something fun from a unique perspective. I had fun reading Drax, I wasn't bored, and I tore through it pretty quick. Hepburn's art is pretty, with rad designs, and colorful expressions, but the script is ridiculously minimal. The dialogue had a joke or two throughout that made me laugh, but otherwise this book leans on a simple, uncomplicated story about Fin Fang Foom operating some sort of criminal underground on some dinky planet out there which Drax gets stranded on. It's all an inconsequential aside for Drax that is by no means a must read for anybody. Punk doesn't offer any interesting perspective or spin, settling for a safe, action-heavy, goofy book.Drax is just barely strung together well enough to appear professional, and not a fan work. I don't know what to expect with Punk leaving the book, but I'll keep it on my radar in case of a turn-around. I didn't hate my time with this book though, and it's on the cheaper end of Marvel's ridiculous pricing.

Noir in space
Whenever you think the Marvel Universe will freeze in dull boredom a writer comes along, takes a second or third grade character and turns them into a gem. To mind come David’s Genis and Madrox, Slott’s She-Hulk and Hopeless’ Spider-Woman.Here it’s two writers: CM Punk, ex-wrestler and comics newcomer, and old battle horse Cullen Bunn, joined by penciler Scott Hepburn, whose half cartoony half gritty style just matches this book’s tone, inker Scott Hanna, and colorist Matt Milla.Drax the Destroyer, tragic galactic figure obsessed by killing his nemesis Thanos as a space detective? This sounds odd, but the components all fit together perfectly here. You have the good-bad girl, bartender Ora, the drinking buddy, who is a former villain, the ghost town and a lot of old acquaintances from Marvel continuity. I will not spoil all of them here. This is a rare mixture of odd humor (“I have the Power Cosmic, why do I have to take a piss?”) and a thrilling adventure story with brilliant dialogues. This book collects #1-5 of the All-New Marvel Drax series. I will be there for volume 2. So, now Marvel, please don’t cancel this book. Recommended a lot!!!

Just Drax being Drax
Drax is far from my favorite Guardian but Bunn and Punk deliver a fun side story for the destroyer. While nothing is groundbreaking here its a harmless adventure that guest stars some cosmic heavyweights that fit right in with Drax. The art was okay but at times less than. Overall, a decent but unspectacular tale.

Simplistic but fun
Simplistic but a fun read. I was a little leery considering one of the writers is a professional wrestler. Drax gets stranded on a backwoods planet and must save the people being kidnapped from the small town he has found himself in.

... interested me as a character but never got the love he deserved
Drax has always interested me as a character but never got the love he deserved. This is a fun read with a drax that is awesome and like the movie very literal. But he plays detective and goes searching and finds enemies to destroy. Fun read
