As other have inferred, this is not the best flag pole on the market. But it does a nice job in light winds. I can't remember, but the instructions may specify what wind speeds this should be used in. I suspect that some of the negative reviewers may not have read that part. For the price, it's not a bad pole and I've owned many throughout my life.

When we first moved into our house, the last owners left a cement spot where they had their old flag pole but it wasn't installed correctly. We decided to purchase this one and install this one correctly. When we first got it, I wasn't sure if it was going to withstand the full on snow and wind that we get. However, after I installed this, this pole barely moves. Even with all of the wind, snow and rain that we've gotten, it's still standing. We did remove the flags that were on there because of the weather, but the pole has been withstanding the weather with no issues. It was really easy to install and when it comes to putting our flags up, it's really easy to do so. At first we only had the 1 flag up but then our second came in and now we have both our US and Army flag up and love how it looks in our front yard. Like the option of either having the one or two flags on this pole.

Nice looking, easy to install and use. However, you need to pay attention to the wind. You can't just raise it all the way up and leave it there. I only fly a single flag on it and the pole whips and bends a lot when the wind picks up and I have the pole raised to its full height. I think flying two flags raised to full height in a moderate to strong wind would easily overwhelm it. I now only raise it to full height when I'm home and the wind is less than 10 mph. Otherwise, I only raise the pole to 3/4 height or 1/2 height. And I won't fly two flags on it.

Package arrived as scheduled. Upon unpacking I found that there was no gold ball for the top and the cheap whimpy chinese "USA" flag was frayed on one end. I put the flag up temporarily while I wait for a high quality Grace Alley embroidered flag (made in the USA, $30.00). I topped the pole with a Sunnytech 3rd generation solar powered light (which works marvelously). I put it all together with yard sale spread winged Eagle atop a gold ball. Looks great. Bottom line, a good product but be prepared to spend some additional money to get it right.

Only down side to this set up it doesn’t have a rope to put the flag at half mast. I think when the time comes I can make it work! The top flag mount is secured with a screw and it I remove it I should be able to lower the position on the pole of the flag. I chose to put concrete into a five gallon bucket with an additional 6 in diameter pvc tube the height of the bucket in the middle of the concrete. Then the tube that came in the kit in the middle of that surrounded with crushed stone and sand to allow for wiggle room in a storm. I also drilled holes in the middle of the bottom of the bucket to allow rain water to run off into the ground and not fill my flag pole! I then dug a hole just deep enough to bury the bucket and not the mounting tube for the flag. Once I was happy with position of the flag pole in the ground I made a 2’x 2’ square planter box with drain holes at the bottom to come up an inch or two below the top of the tube for the flag pole. Then wrapped the concrete with trim boards to give it a better curb appeal. We had a tropical storm pass through last night with 60+ mph winds and rain. I lowered the mid section of the flag pole just for more stability in the winds and there was not a single thing wrong with the pole when the storm was over. Even with two 3x5 foot flags on it. One standard American flag, one Black and gray American flag with a stripe of Blue, Red, and Green to show support for my Police, Fire/ Emt and Armed forces! I also paired the pole with a solar light at the top looks great.

This retractable flag pole was purchased to serve two functions for our back yard patio deck. First was to use be as flag pole and display the included USA flag or our scout patrol flags when we have meetings at the house in the backyard. But one weekend we were trying to install a sun shade and one of our guests suggested we use the flag pole to hoist and hold one end of the triangular shade to the back side of our house. The idea was awesome but I was skeptical since the pole was retractable. No need to worry, the pole locks firmly but still allows to twist and retract to the lower position. The thickness of the alloy pole does not flex or break when making the triangle shad taught and firm. Even with wind gusts the pole would bend slightly but not break.

I should have read it in the name. I did not think about it. I was searching for a patriotic flagpole. and I did receive a flagpole. There was one problem. If you want to show your patriotism as an American, buy American products. I didn't realize where this product came from until I pulled the flag out of the box and on a big white tag attached to the beautiful red white and blue, was a "MADE IN CHINA" I wasn't happy about that.The pole itself was easy to assemble and put together. I am curious how it does in a strong wind. It is not very solid, even after installing into the ground. The truck, or ball on top of the flagpole, is a hollow two piece plastic ball held together like a plastic Easter Egg. The pulley at the top and mounting hardware are plastic. I just hope the flagpole withstands the winds.

The media could not be loaded.  We ordered two of these flagpoles to install outside around our pool. We use them as both flagpoles and for a sun shade around the pool. We asked our landscaper to install them. He installed them deep so the poles are shorter when not in use, as we did not need the full twenty feet in height. Each segment telescopes by twisting to tighten. This allows you to adjust the height, so you can lower it to attach the flag to any one of several hooks. The segments hold their position even if its a bit windy outside, and its easy to twist loose to pull the poles down. It was great to fly the flag for the fourth of July holiday using these poles, and this set comes with everything you need including the flag.
