Works really well
This is a really good product and I'm glad I decided to purchase it. Needed to increase my biological filtration and this was the perfect answer. It has a good lift of water for such a small pump and is more than adequate to do the job. The pump is completely quiet and the water outlet is gentle and causes little disturbance. It has worked well since being installed and the filters are simple and easy to clean. I am really pleased with the results of this filter, it looks unobtrusive in the aquarium and having two spare filter sponges included is a bonus. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this filter for the small to medium aquarium, it has certainly made a difference to the quality of the water in my aquarium.

Great Sponge Filter.
I bought the smaller size. It creates a medium to gentle flow through my 105litre tank which is what I wanted for the fish and the plants seem to be doing good/ok. Water parameters have been very stable with 13 neons and a Betta. (Update: fairly stable with 14 neons, Betta, 5 Otos, 4 Neocaridina, 5 snails in my mostly planted tank) The sponges clog up and I need to clean alternate sponges about every 10 days to keep the water flow up. So the same sponge will be cleaned about every 20 days. I left both sponges for a couple week at the beginning and the out flow nearly turned into a trickle. It cleans the water nicely but obviously I have some debris build up at the opposite end of the tank that I can either find another filter for or just Vac it out when I do a water change. I think the suction is good for the size of the motor. It's also very quiet, the loudest part is the water flowing into the tank as my outlet head is above water. The video I've attached is during a water change, after I've cleaned a sponge. Update: after four and half months the flow had slowed significantly and it couldn't have been due to the sponges. I took it out, cleaned the pipes even though they were quite clear other than just a slime build up. (Don't clean the ceramic balls) Then I connected it all back up, plugged it in and it stopped working. It wasn't broken as I could feel the motor vibrating so I contacted the sellers to which they said I should clean the motor aswell. Here's how to clean the motor: I managed to open the motors bottom lid with effort, then a plastic cover lifts off showing the rotor and water channel. Pull out the rotor, clean the area and pop everything back togethor. For some reason I had to tap the motor downward for the rotor to start spinning again! And now it's nearly like new.

Great Product, Great Value!
Bought the smallest version of this filter (not that small as it happens) for a pair of peacock cichlids in a 70l tank. Its not noisy at all other than the trickling water sound you het because the outflow pipe sits above the waterline. Easy to clean both filter sponges as they can be pulled off and push back on without taking the filter out of the water. However, if you want a filter that has a strong propulsion that makes a current in the water then this isnt for you. The outflow pipe sits above the waterline which allows the filtered water to break the surface and add extra air for your fish but it doesnt come out fast enough to create a current of water around your tank which would be important for a bigger tank than mine or one much more stocked with fish. I like this filter and would buy it again for sure 👍🏻

Doesn't last rude seller disgraceful
This started out amazing I was super impressed the added spare filters a bonus and super quite unlike my last one that the noise was unreal. Fits lovely in my 70l tank but roll on 3 weeks .... and its down to just a trickle I've cleaned it completely to no avail the pump is dying a slow death. Very disappointed as it started out great I can't even send it back as costs to much to ship from where I live so I'm stuck with a soon to be completely useless product not to mention out of pocket as I'm going to have to find another one Update seller contacted me offering a full refund but when I replied yes they tried to belittle me. When I informed them the product completely failed and I threw it away as stated above to return the product costs to much. They then insisted I send it back knowing I'd already discarded it. I don't want anyone else to have this disgraceful experience that's why I'm updating my review. I've been a amazon shopper for years and never experienced such rude messages

Updated - Works perfectly for a month
Best filter I've ever had. (Also the quietest filter I've ever had and have tried over 20 varieties). Got it for my 60l shrimp tank. (It'd certainly work well for double/triple that size though) It's completely silent when under water, no hum from the pump or no water sound and when above water the only noise is a trickle of water and even that is quieter than my air powered sponge filters. If you have a tank in eg. a bedroom/ workspace or anywhere you need silence i highly recommend this. You can rotate the outlet all the way around and it extends to double the height of the sponges so fits any tank. The flow is powerful enough to reach every corner of my tank and gentle enough for the shrimp. You get more than enough ceramic media to fill the filters and get a total of 4 sponges (2 replacements if needed) Updated- It worked perfectly for a month, then it goes down to a tiny trickle, i believe it's because the sponges are so dense (to prevent the internal motor being clogged) however this means it needs cleaning every few days otherwise waterflow goes to barely anything. I recommend a standard air pump/ sponge filter instead of this.

It’s quite and cleans very well.
I have got two of these in two different tanks with axolotl‘s and we have been using them for nearly 6 months. And I have just grout a third one. I’m gonna give it five due to the fact that he works extremely well better than an air pump due to the fact that they are very loud and can be distracting if you if work in the same room as them. It’s easy to set up and use. There is just one thing that could be better and that is that one of them sometimes cuts out used to cut out a lot when we first got it but seems to cut out when I do a water change which means I have to take the device apart spin the motor and put it back together. But other than that, it’s probably one of the best filters I’ve used.

Very good customer service!
I have bought several of these filters, which mean a lot less work in having to clean filters every 2 days. With these they are far more natural allowing healthy bacteria to make a healthier environment for your fish. Very important though, don't clean the sponge filter with tap water, use tank water, otherwise it will keep interfering with your tank healthy bacteria set up. One of my filters did stop working though, snd as there is a one year warranty AQQA we're extremely quick to respond and act in sending me out a replacement... cannot praise them enough. 👌

5w good - 3w useless
Basic design is excellent. Saves adding a powerhead to a standard 2-sponge filter if you want a quiet / bubble-free sponge filter for a fry or shrimp tank.5w Have had the 5w version running in a 105L tank for a couple of months and it couldn't be better. Good flow rate, not extreme, large sponge area. It's a sponge filter, it works. It's large: had to cut down the outflow riser (easy) and dispensed with the containers for bio-media (I'd say that's a gimmick .. tiny compartments and very fiddly, though the media supplied looks ok). Bought a 3w for a 35L tank, having been impressed by the 5w. It's quite a bit smaller which suited me. First one ran fine for a few hours: next morning the motor had died. Replaced it, put it down to quality control. Replacement ran for maybe a week before flow slowed, and then over a few days flow fell gradually to zero. Gave it one more try when I saw second one slowing flow, as it would allow me to keep the sponges going which were by now well-cycled / good bacteria colonies. In the meantime added a second filter in case the third one failed, which it did, similar pattern as the second one - a week or so running fine, then flow gradually reducing over a few days to next to nothing. The 5w, I love it. It's just physically too big for smaller tanks, even with the media cylinders removed. The 3w has now been a real pain. Three separate returns to do, boxing, QR, trip to PO. There should be compensation in this kind of situation, not just refund. Shame the build quality is rubbish as otherwise it would be the perfect filter for small / shrimp tanks. UPDATE: another 15 months and the 5w is running as well as ever. Very happy with it.

Does not work
Useless, does not start on its own. Have to several time lift it above water for it to work. It’s more a pain rather than a benefit. And it’s so expensive. After several attempts to make it work, it works for a short time and stops again. I have to waste my time sitting with it and lifting above water multiple times to make it work. Throwing it away.
