## Overview

The ARABELLA ARK CERAMICS GOLDEN FOREST TEA TEMPLE II is a large-scale ceramic piece inspired by the architectural beauty of Japanese tea temples. ## Description

This Samurai style lidded decorative teapot is glazed to look like the dappled light in a rain forest. It is 27"H x 19"W x 4"D. My large scale ceramic pieces are constructed from slabs of porcelain or white clay, which I often texture while it is damp. I have created my own special glazes for the past forty years. The work is fired in a variety of styles, from oxidation in an electric kiln to raku in a smoke infused and reduced environment. Post firing, the pieces are often lacquered or layered with gold, silver, or copper leaf and varnished. Fortunately, my work graces many museums, private and public collections in China, Japan, Australia, England, France, and the United States, including the Smithsonian Museum. These large scale tea temples inspire contemplation. They are stunning additions to any setting, be it living room, lobby, restaurant, or office. The Japanese tea ceremony began in the 16th century in Kyoto at the Daitokuji Temple. The architecture of those temples and the Japanese tea house combine creatively in my work.
