Everyone says Chemex is best pour over maker,how does yours compare to the nearly $45 chemex?

Hey Ivan. Thanks for the question :-). Chemex is a great product, I am not going to say otherwise. The biggest difference with this product is the steel filter cone which means that you don't need replacement paper filters which strip-out a certain amount of flavor from your coffee during the brewing process. What about the glass caraf? is it sturdy. i have another one and love it, but one tiny tip over on the counter top and no more caraf.

As of 07/2018, no, it's not. It's not borosilicate glass which is what makes glass resistant to extreme heat, so it will break. Mine cracked in 3 days and then I went to wash it and broke in a hundred pieces. My advice if you still want to buy it: use a wide metal blade under the carafe while brewing your coffee and don't wash the carafe immediately after brewing; let it cool first.

How fine is the mesh? Will it filter coffee without the murkiness as in a french press?

There is some residue in the coffee but I don't notice it unless I pour out the last bit of coffee in the cup, definitely less than the French press I used. If that bothers you add a paper filter.

How many ounces does it hold? is it 3 8-ounce cups or 3 4-ounce cups?
