I have seen these slicers for some time and was always intrigued. Cutting a watermelon is quite frankly, a pain in the butt. My family adores watermelon though so every week of every warm month, I go through the chore of slicing one up. These slicers make this job so much easier. You hold the slicer at the top edge and slice down and across. It has a small cross edge at the tip to cut the bottom of the watermelon away from the rind. You slice through then use the tong like action to take the piece out of the watermelon creating a piece. In reality, I take the piece out and then use a knife to slice that big piece into smaller bite size pieces. This slicer cuts down on my work greatly. I wish this slicer had a handle of some sort to soften the metal edges. When cutting deep into the watermelon on the first few slices and when trying to get the straggler pieces cut away, the metal digs into my hand and hurts. I also worry about the cross piece at the end of the tongs as it does get strained quite a bit. I really hope this slicer holds up to the regular use it is sure to endure. Broken when I received it.

I am big fun of watermelon and every season we buy several every week and eat it. The thing I never liked is the time I had to spend cutting it as this isn’t always an easy task. These cutters are great items as it makes the work of cutting the watermelon or melons so much easier that with a regular knife. The cutters arrived well packaged in nylon wrapping around them. It took me not more than a minute to cut most of the watermelon using this cutter as this is a task that took me four to five times longer with a regular knife. I am not a chef but I can appreciate the fact that you can cut specific designs using these cutters. It is made of stainless steel which should last for long term and can be easily washed in a dishwasher. The melon baler carver is a cool thing although you need to do some small research on how to do creative shapes using it. The slicer and cutter are pretty sharp and can cut any fruit so easily with no hassle. Great for slicing the watermelons into bite size chunks.

I love, love, love this slicer. I love to eat watermelon especially on hot summer days! With this I can but it up for all and place it in a bowl for all to eat all summer long. We have 3 summer birthdays out of 4 and watermelon is a big part of all of them since they are usually outside on hot days!This makes things so much simpler then a big heavy knife.It is easy to use and fun. If you are a melon fan, this is for you. Easy to use. It cuts to the rind so you waste nothing but none of the white rind in there.Cut easily. Slices perfect every time.It is efficient and fast. So much faster than a knife!It is easy to handle.Saves money, by not wasting as much of your watermelon.Comes with a melon baler that I especially love and will be using for my daughters party. WE always eat watermelon at hot July parties but it could be used at anything. Who says watermelon is only for summer. If I can find them, I enjoy!IT Can also be used with other fruits. Edit: So I went from four stars to five because I realized that I was using the slicer upside down which is why it was a little tough to work... Still, instructions would have helped with that!My daughter loves watermelons (and blueberries) like nobody's business! I have watched her down a watermelon the size of her torso, she was covered in watermelon juice and as happy as a clam (what a weird saying by the way, are clams actually happy??). I however prefer when we get blueberries or something equally clean because cutting and the eating of watermelons leaves a sticky mess everywhere!! I usually cut it then put it in a bowl and give it to my daughter to take outside so a good portion of that mess stays outside. I ordered this watermelon slicer hoping that it would cut down on the stickiness, it did. It was a bit difficult to hold as you're using it for the first time but each slice gets cleaner. The tong part of it is great and lifts the slices out well but the cutter could cut a little easier, it works well enough but it is a bit hard to get the slicer all the way through one end to the other, I would have given for and a half stars because it still keeps the juice in because it is it's own bowl but there are no half stars, that's why I gave four stars though. The melon Baker works great, the melon balls were a great bite size and also were the perfect size to freeze and use as ice cubes in water!
