Dritz(R) Sew-On Snaps (Size 10) - Nickel

Ridiculously expensive, but Joann Fabrics is gone and I needed them. Is sewing a dying art?

I do hope to use these on a future project as they look strong. Unfortunately I had ordered nickel coloured ones to match 4 I already had and I received black. Such a small order and too much nuisance to return. Besides I wanted my project completed with these and had to come up with a different solution. Still I think they look lime thwy will be useful someday.

I wanted a size 10 snap which I can't find the old fashioned sizing anywhere. These are huge - certainly bigger than a dime and almost as big as a penny and I can't seem to find in between sizes anywhere now that there's no more Woolworths. My son told me they have it Johannesburg in South Africa, almost incentive to go. These are good snaps just a bit clumsy looking so if your project can hide, or it doesn't matter then great. For example, my grandson rips all of his bibs off with the velcro and my son wanted snaps instead since he hasn't figured that out yet and who cares with the back of the bib that won't show anyway.

It was difficult to determine just how big these snaps were from the online description and picture. They came quickly and the quality was very good, but they were much heavier and larger than I wanted. I will keep them and find some use for them since it's not worth sending them back, but they will not work for my current project.

I found a boiled wool jacket at a charity shop in good shape and the perfect color but it had no way to close the front but a wimpy tie-belt. I modified the belt to make waistband and added 3 of these snaps. They hold the front closed neatly now and it's styled a bit more like a soft version of a jacket that looks great with a scarf and gloves. These are great to update outerwear, especially if the wearer has a difficult time with buttons. They hold tight but release easily when needed.
