In My World

A simple book offering a great opportunity for child participation in reading/telling of the story.
This is such a great book. Children can participate during the story by measuring their hands on the cover and “reading” the pictures while I read the words. The summary page at the end is a favorite in our household, we all “read” together.4 out of 5 stars Because the pages are laser cut you do need to be more delicate, but “worn in” books make me smile at the memories we are making. This is also the illustrator of chicka chicka boom boom book which offers a playful cadence as the letters of the alphabet all climb up the coconut tree.

Fun cut-out pictures, and a great intro to adjectives
Fun "pictures" and a great intro to adjectives. My daughter and I had fun doing charades to every page in this book - even being the "shifting stones" and the "growing fruit."

Shadow book for little ones
Turn storytimr into magic using this book as a shadow book. In my daughter's room I have a small IKEA spotlight type of reading light against the wall of her bed that I can use to project the cutouts on to the wall. In my son's room I had to get creative as the table lamp does not lend itself to this but he likes to cuddle so I turn my cell phone's flashlight mode on and then while lying down on the bed we project the images on the ceiling. They both love it, they are 4 and 2. I have the hardcover version and the covers fold back nicely but have to fumble a bit to keep all the pages folded backwards. Nice story, fun cut outs aND enthralling for the kids.

My son's favorite book!!!
I work at a library and I borrowed this book from the library. I now have to purchase it for him. When I told him that I was going to take it back to the library he threw a fit NO NO NO!!!!! This book is now in our home library collection. At the end of the book the author uses all of the symbols in the book in a short story. He is only 21 monthes and knows all of the symbols that appear on the that last page of the book. I don't especiall care for the choice of cut-out design chosen for the flower or the fruit but he seems to know what it is.
