Light and Fruity="not sour". Relative to other beans, the mellow nutty fruit flavors maintain balance at stonger brews.
My wife and I have been testing a lot of different sources from local roasters in the Detroit area to a variety of Amazon vendors. Most of the varieties we tried wound up tasting like restaurant coffee, which is fine but if you're ordering whole bean coffee then you are probably interested in something a bit more complex than your average brew. This is the first bag that really felt like we were getting our moneys worth out of the burr grinder we bought last year. We've been brewing our morning coffee on a regular coffee maker with our conical burr grinder set to a medium setting. If you want a stronger cup, you can add more beans without getting sour/cardboard flavors. Most of the time when I've seen roasters describe a coffee as "Light and Fruity", I've felt like it was more of an industry term than an accurate description for someone inexperienced. Maybe my taste buds are wack, but in general Light and Fruity to me means "not sour". I will say that relative to other beans, the mellow nutty fruit flavors are more pronounced and maintains its balance at stronger brews. So I get the terminology, but...end rant. Our bag came with an expiration date stamped on, about 6 months out which speaks to the freshness of the roast. Ordering another bag, and hoping it gets here in time for Christmas.

Great quality coffee in a perfect brown bag.
I honestly bought this coffee looking for a more recently roasted product and it delivered. The beans were roasted to perfection and even using what I have, a low quality burr grinder, it managed to produce some of the best espresso Ive had outside of an hour drive to one of the best coffee shops in the southeast. The flavor notes are something I did not expect - I always lean more towards things such as dark chocolate or caramel and toffee usually found in darker roasts. Some people would wonder why you would possibly want fruity or floral notes in coffee - its nothing like eating a flower - I promise you that. It's just the best you can do to describe the deep level of underlying sweetness. The packaging is also something to be proud of here as it allows you to easily open and reseal the coffee almost like a ziplock bag to keep the freshness going as long as possible, it is vastly superior to fumbling around with the tape to reseal a bag or leaving the coffee in your grinder which does a terrible job of retaining the fresh taste in the beans.I've had this coffee for a little over a week and have almost went through the entire bag. Will be ordering again and would love to taste the other varieties from this brand.

If you like light, fruity coffee, you'll like this one more than I did
Buddy who likes Yirgacheffe approved this one. Turns out I hate this type of brew, it's too light, almost lemony. But as far as I could tell, it tasted fresh enough, ground and brewed well, and generally did what it should, so I'm leaving a good review, it's just not for me.

Great everyday coffee.
I've been a coffee fiend for well over a few years now. I started with basic brands and then moved on to try better offerings from smaller companies. The Ethiopian whole bean coffee from Stone Street is honestly really good. It's on my top 5 right next to Zingerman's coffee beans. For the price I was really surprised at how good it tasted. Fairly mild tasting at first but then you get a real nice kick in the aftertaste. I brewed it using my french press with proper brewing techniques and it turned out fantastic. I'm writing this review after several cups throughout the week and I'm still drinking this as my everyday coffee. My only issue was how Amazon handled shipping the whole bean variety. Their fulfillment center near me had been sending the wrong coffee to me over and over again. I contacted Stone Street and they immediately tried to make things right and sent me the proper coffee. Their customer service is A+ so it's definitely worth giving these guys a shot. Good coffee, good company, happy me.

Not light or evenly roasted
I normally buy specialty coffee from 'third wave' roasters, but found myself in a bind and needed something quick in a place with no local roasters, so I searched Amazon for a light roast Yirgacheffe. I'm sure this coffee is fine for your average coffee drinker, certainly people that add milk and/or sugar. However, it is definitely not a Light Roast by most standards, maybe by Starbucks' dark standards. The roasting is also rather uneven with tipping evident, but nothing extreme. There is no roast date on the package, but there is a "best by" date 7 months from when I ordered, and I suspect that is 12 months from roast date, meaning this coffee is about 5 months past roast date. It has the kind of (lack of) freshness one would expect for 5 months past roast date.Overall, not a terrible coffee, and it is a decent value, but doesn't quite live up to the marketing language they use, and particularly disappointed it is not light roast by any SCA type standard.

Best coffee I've ever had
This coffee was so fresh, you almost felt as if you had picked and grounded coffee beans just at the right time. You don't get much so it's on the expensive side. So if you drink a lot of coffee daily (that I dont), then this may not be suitable for the budget. The taste does not have bitterness or strong but isn't dishwasher weak and it smells so good. Give it a try

Folger’s Instant is so much better than this bean/roast combination
Goodness. I was sailing through Amazon and I ordered two one-pound bags of this coffee. Before I get into my review I gotta say that I’m a big fan of Stone Street Coffees. But not this bean.I ordered this coffee by mistake. But, hey, I’ve been a coffee snob since 1979 and I can appreciate all manner of roasts and beans. But these beans don’t even smell like coffee. Not even after grinding. I’ve used them in my Chemex, my Bonavita (maybe the best electric brewer ever), and even in an older Cuisinart. It’s horrible. I know that it’s a light, fruity, flowery roast, &etc., but the grind looks as if there’s cardboard mixed with the light roasted beans and, yes, it tastes a lot like ground cardboard. I ground the remaining and gave it to neighbors. They, in turn, tossed it away - Folger’s light roast has a real coffee taste that they preferred.I’m happy for - but suspicious of - those who enjoyed this coffee. I advise any coffee-lover to stay away from this product.
