This book went to the core of what I need to do. It is easy to comply with others to keep the peace. It is better to say what you want or do what you want to do. It is something I already knew. The trick is to actually be able to do it.

I just finished Self-Reliance, Translated, by the multi-talented Adam Khan. It is great!!!!! I love it. I never read the original but this is absolutely empowering. I want my son to read it. I think it will resonate for him. Your commitment to "lift the fog" of communication is unparalleled.

Well intentioned, but not well-executed.The translator failed to keep the essay separate from his other references (even those from Emerson himself) by including them ("As Emerson said" within the text proper, for example)....Didn't work for me at all. I recommend the original, esoteric language and all.

It's a yes within the author's purpose. It's a no if you are well versed in Emerson style. I think many people will benefit from understandings Emerson's Ideas applied in their mindset. It is a noble purpose, more so if the translation English to English would be cheaper, say $1.00 symbolic. Anyway, 4 stars for a worthy effort. It's the Ideas that matter. If I were Emerson I would have enjoyed an apologetic long paragraph stating that without me maybe the author could not have thought my thinking. That would be a nice humble confession, even if it not true.

First of all, i did not buy this.But i found the translation in your site and i couldn't find a way to thank you for the effort you have made to write this so i thought to write a review here.English is not my first language so it was hard for me to understand Emerson's essay as he wrote it but when i stumbled upon your translation everything have changed. I couldn't say or not if it was what the original would mean but i can surely apply these things into my life and be more self reliant and that's what is the important part and Emerson would agree, to be self-reliant.A combination of this and the original and there you have it. I am going to read again the original to understand it even better and apply it in my life.Thanks again.

Thank you so much - I just starting reading this by adam Khan, Im so grateful that he took the time to write this amazing essay - I have tried to read this essay multiple times before - it has been nearly impossible for me to understand many of his great lessons - I absolutely love this book and going to be reading it multiple times every morning.For those others who post negative comments telling how the author has failed. Well why don't you TRY to do what he has done. I want to re-assure you Dear Author, your work is amazing and you are being tested of the lessons of the book it self.
