Great pencil but . . . .
I like this pencil a lot. Mechanism works well, it is a little heavier than cheap pencils which I like. The only issue is the pathetically tiny nub of an eraser on top. It will not last, so you will need more and better eraser. Also, the pencil did not come with extra leads, which is unusual since nearly all others do.

The eraser's a joke, but man oh man, the sharpness factor!
The Twist-Erase and Pentel Sharp Kerry mechanical pencils owned this heart since 2009. My only complaint: the need to deliberately break the point at times to re-awaken sharpness. The older Kuru Toga models were better on that score, but reliably uniform sharpness throughout a page proved elusive. That scenario ultimately landed me on this page.Arriving a few hours prior to a webinar, this mahhhhvelous instrument proved it's delightful prowess as I wrote pages of notes. This pencil may not be as ultra comfy as the Kuru Toga Alpha Gel models, but the sharpness factor rules supreme. The Alpha Gel's squishy grip spoiled me, so I'm adjusting—with a smile! No hassles, at all, with the rotating mechanism. The sleeve extended as expected throughout. Indeed, after a few minutes of writing, I forgot about it.I'm sticking with 5 stars despite the laughable eraser. No way this munchkin is worthy of the 3 syllables of its name. I cured that problem with a Campus 2B eraser (JetPens), since I use only 2B lead. (Worth the hassle: erasures are super clean, no smudges, no paper trauma, & a minimal debris trail!). My plan now is to grab a few more of these gems, so the pencil will be situated at each of the prime spots in the house, my EDC bag and car. Ditto the Campus erasers. Unbeatable combo, especially since I'm a faithful bullet journaler who prefers pencilled rapid-logging.Special note: The pencil appeared to be stocked with only 2 (HB) leads. After popping off the eraser, I opted to drop in only 2 2B leads. Didn't want to risk jamming it, as I imagine the hallmark mechanism is somewhat sensitive. And, I'm using the Kuru Toga lead. Not sure if that's the reason, but despite being a masher (heavy handed), I experienced no lead breaking.

Achieves what it sets out to do.
This is the base model Kuru Toga pencil. It's the cheapest version (other than the blue "Advance" which is on sale for $3.40 right now), and is best purchased to get introduced into Uni's Kuru Toga lineup.Pros:Lead-Rotating mechanisms still work after a year of use (I've bought three of these things from various sellers)Rotation mech is useful no matter what lead you put in.Won't break the bank.Black is a good color.Cons:Grip is not the most comfortable (to be fair gripped versions are available at a decent price.)Looks and feels cheap like a Bic pencil (to be fair metal versions are available at a decent price.)Stock lead is scratchy, and the Kuru Toga branded stuff is rather expensive, though I find the stock lead does hold a point better and never breaks.Eraser is small, so make sure you buy a proper eraser for erasing big mistakes.Overall Opinion:If you're looking for a cheap Kuru Toga pencil, this is a good starting place. If you like these, then buy a version that improves on the downsides of the base model.

Great Pencil for Low Price
This pencil is awesome for its price point.I only have two complaints about this product:1. The rotation mechanism requires a certain amount of vertical pressure to activate. I tend to do a lot of my lettering from a lower angle (pencil at ~ 45º relative to writing surface instead of 90º). This means I'm not activating the rotation mechanism when I hold my pencil like this.2. The pencil would feel nicer with a bit more weight.Despite those two complaints, I'm still giving 5 stars. I understand there are limitations to the rotating mechanism and I'm fine with them, especially for the price. Additionally, I'm aware that there is another model at a (slightly) higher price point that has a metal and heavy plastic body that would satisfy my weight complaint.Another note: the lead retracts ever so slightly into the body as you write in order to activate the rotation mechanism. The slight slack in the pencil took me a while to get used to, but now that I'm used to it, I don't notice it anymore.Otherwise, this pencil rocks. It's a powerhouse for the price and functions exactly as intended. The clear window to see the mechanism is helpful to see if you're writing at the correct angle to engage the mechanism; plus, it looks awesome. The included lead and eraser are smooth and feel high quality. My lead is always sharp and my handwriting looks much more consistent than ever before. I would definitely recommend this pencil or another in the Kuru Toga product line.

well designed
Arrived on time. It is a well constructed mechanical pencil that looks good, but alas, it just arrived a couple of days ago and I haven't had time to really use it so on that most important part, I cannot comment.
