Will it hurt your hands?** A: It is safe to use. At first I "held the angle" of the blade steady to the whetstone through each stroke by pressing my finger tips against the whetstone while holding the knife. Since the whetstone is mildly abrasive, beware not to constantly rub your fingertips against the whetstone through each stroke. You may not realize it at the time, but you would be essentially sanding your fingertips, mildly. It is safe to use and worth it.
