Q: How do I engage the hammer “drill” function. This only hammers but does not drill. Also it is not variable speed.

There is no rotary function so no drill. Strictly a demolition hammer.

Q: Which is better to break up concrete slab the flat or pointed chisel?

I used the pointed one to break up some old concrete around a few fenceposts, it was working great so I didn't even try the flat bit. The flat bit would work great for removing tile, I've done that in the past, not with this particular tool but one like it.

Q: What type of plug does it have. 110 or 220 ?

110 I’ve had many jackhammers in the 40 years of tile. Seriously for the money I bought 2 figured if they break don’t care, they are really well made and worth the money

Q: Has anyone used the expensive ($500+) name brand demo hammers to give this a comparison? Does the price reflect the performance?

I haven’t personally, but I lent mine to my contractor and he said it was comparable to the heavy duty, full size one he has. Asked me to get him one.
