Got this to go in my Bug Out Bag. Of course I didn't want to be in an emergency or survival situation and find out it didn't work. So, I "tested" it. After charging it fully, I submerged it in water for a couple of minutes. I then took it out and tried it. It worked! Hooray!I like that it has the little latch to keep it closed tightly and prevents accidental ignition. A lanyard attaches so it can be hung on your backpack or belt loop for quick or repeated use.For the price and it being waterproof, this lighter is perfect for your own Bug Out Bag, camping, hiking, or even everyday use.

I've used Zippos and teh ubiquitious butane lighters for decades, but the idea of one that relies exclusively on a battery to create a plasma stream was intriguing.I was a bit dubious about whether it would suit my purposes, mainly seeing it as a way to start my Weber charcoal grill, but I found myself pleasantly surprised at just how easily it ignited a small scrap of paper to get the grill going, in fact a bit easier than using a conventional lighter, which really surprised me.It ignites paper instantly, so I'm nowhere near depleting the battery, but I'll speculate that I could probably start the grill at least a hundred times before needing to recharge the batter, which fully charges in under an hour using the included (and universal) micro-USB cable.As for the construction of the lighter itself, it's really rugged, with an overmolded rubberized bright orange outer surface (much easier to see that way) and even a mechanical latch mechanism to ensure that it stays closed.There is also a bit of a seal, so it's a safe bet that incidental water, as from splashes in a boat or during rain, won't get into it.The lanyard with attached whistle is also a nice touch.It's nice to not have to buy fluid or throw away the lighter, only recharging instead now.This is a really cool little gadget.

Came packaged in the nicest box, impressive if given as a gift.Can easily be removed from it's case but loses its water resistance.Charges to full in a little over an hour and functions as expected.If used to light campfires it can best be used to light a flammable object like a small dry twig to then use like a little match to start a fire.

I have had a few different brands of these. Some I gave away. The different brands are different only in how long it holds a charge or actually how many strikes you get. This one says 300 yet I haven't and don't get that many yet. Yet I still I like the lighters. I ordered two from this company.

I really liked this lighter. The wind can really pick up in my town and this did the trick. Only issue is after only 6 months it stopped charging. I guess for what I paid I got my money's worth.
