The cup is plastic and when you shake the dice it makes the expected noise. J.L.'s answer with theremedy of self -adhesive felt is great but the noise is not obnoxious.

Q: Seems to me Yahtzee is naturally quite travel friendly. What makes this edition better for travel than packing up my full-size?

Depends on how you travel. When the kids come along on vacation, I need to keep the games small to fit more of them in our luggage...or pack a bag of just games. If you are flying, that gets expensive. If you are driving and have plenty of luggage space, load up all the full size games!

Q: How do you buy replacement score sheets?

What we do is place them on a sheet of paper and make our own copies because I've never checked into buying new cards, and figured I would just make my own.

Q: does this include the score sheets

There should be a small pad of score sheets inside the canister, but they're not the same size as what you get with the standard boxed edition of the game. You may wish to print some of your own full-size sheets from one of the many online sources out there to use instead.
