Balmoral Side Plaques Mailbox Post Package - Quick-Ship-Bronze

I bought this after the arm of my mailbox completely got ripped off in a storm. I was left with the 4x4 post still rooted in the ground. The only difficulty I had with the new piece was that they tell you to Slide the plastic over your existing post and then put the metal post over top. This proved to be extremely difficult and frustrating. I did finally accomplish everything and it is sturdy and looks great.

The Whitehall Balmoral Mailbox has a number of excellent features. I was looking for a larger mailbox that could accommodate moderate sized packages. This mailbox has about three times the area of a typical mailbox. The design is excellent and it's very attractive. The mailbox is delivered in THREE boxes. One box contains the mailbox. Another box contains the post frame. The third box contains the mounting bracket and top finial. The first time I ordered this mailbox, only the mailbox was delivered. That was returned and I ordered again and received all three boxes. One item not included was the customized address plaque. That is obtained free of charge by filling out the provided form which I emailed to Whitehall. It takes about two weeks to get the customized side address plaques. Another optional item not included was the base cuff. I ordered that separately. You also need to provide the 4 x 4, 48 inch wood post.I decided to assemble everything in the house first. I drilled the holes and bolted on the side plaques on the mailbox. I bolted the mounting bracket onto the post frame. I then bolted on the mailbox. I went outside and removed the old mailbox. I dug the hole about 28 inches deep. That left about 20 inches above ground for mounting the mailbox. I used a 50 pound bag of quickset concrete and poured it into the hole along with 1 gallon of water as per directions on the concrete bag. I used dirt to fill in the rest. It set up within a few hours. In my area, the bottom of the mailbox should be from 40-45 inches above street level and set back about 6 inches from the curb. That might be different in different places, but you need to consider the postal regulations in your area when setting your post.Next, I used the thin plastic sleeve that was wrapped around the metal post frame to cover the wood post outside as a moisture barrier. I put the base cuff over the wood post. Then I carried out the fully assembled mailbox and simply put it over the wood post. It dropped right in place. There are two bolts provided to bolt the mailbox frame onto the wood post. Then I snapped on the top finial. It was a fairly easy installation.Overall, I'm very pleased with the mailbox. It looks good and is very functional. As long as you get all of the boxes and pieces necessary and follow the assembly directions, you should be very pleased as well.

The mailbox is high quality and won’t rust. Neither will the side plaques.The numbers are large and very visible. (maybe not so much if the street name is also on them).

There’s nothing that I don’t like about this mailbox. Elegant, sturdy and extremely well designed and made. Engraved plaques took about a week to arrive, from the date I faxed the order sheet. One strong suggestion to avoid any problems or confusion. Make sure that you are ordering exactly what you want. It’s very easy to end up ordering wrong. I knew I wanted the complete package, which was the post cover, mailbox and address plaque. Almost ordered one where one or both were optional additions, that were more expensive and time consuming.

Mailbox is really big. I have lots of stuff to mail everyday and this, more often than not saves me a trip to the post office. Very nice looking as well.

The attempted install of the cuff over the post sleeve damaged the sleeve. Whitehall would not remedy the situation-it is on Amazon for marketing it this way.

Very sturdy high-end mailbox! My only complaint is they don't make the customization easy. They require you to fill out a form once you receive the mailbox with customization instructions. Mine didn't have the form, had to contact customer service to get one. Seems like they could do easily online. Also the registration of the warranty is on a post card, no digital option available. That being said they make an "old school" quality product!
