Review: Great buy for the cost. - Leaving 4 stars because I haven't had a chance to use these on a baby yet [our daughter is due to arrive any day now], but tested them and they absorbed a lot of liquid before leaking. They DO need to be washed several times before use to improve absorbency. Basically I soaked these for 48 hours in tide and water [they do run color so I switched the water out for fresh hot water abd soap every 8-12 hours] then I ran them through the washer 4 times, three of those times I used soap the last I just wanted to make sure ANY RESIDUE was gone. They aren't leaking dye anymore when they get wet and their absorbency quadrupled. Do no use fabric softener with these! I washed inserts in hot water, I prefer to air dry but medium heat no dryer sheets works great too. If these hold up well I will make sure I update my rating to reflect that. Just be sure to do a diaper strip method on them before you wash them the first few times and you won't have any issues. Tide is my goto for my diapers it came highly recommended by a friend because it's gentle enough for cloth diapers but strong enough to strip any residue put of your fabrics: ] Edit: two months of cloth diapering later and we just started using these for overnights. We breast feed so sometimes the two of us will sleep nurse through the night instead of waking fully. These inserts are great for overnight and super absorbent. They can usually make it from the midnight diaper change to 8am. :] they dont smell, i havent had to strip them again yet, but we also do a cycle with soap and a cycle without soap. We are about to order another 12 pack as our daughter is starting to outgrow our 3 layer microfiber inserts!
Review: Still holding up strong after many months of use! - I started using cloth diapers with bamboo inserts when my kiddo was around 1 month old. They have saved us so much money by switching from disposables. These seem very similar to the inserts that come with the Wegreeco brand cloth diapers, and both work well. Some of the inserts have developed some faint stains that will probably clear up easily in the sun; the pocket diapers themselves are still stain-free and snowy white inside! I much prefer using bamboo inserts over the microfiber kind for several practical reasons: - they are softer on my hands when I am stuffing them into the pocket diapers every night; the microfiber feels slickly plush at first but ultimately leaves my fingertips feeling raw. - they seem to absorb much better than the microfiber inserts, which became mandatory as my baby grew. Where the microfiber ones are always sodden and gushy, the bamboo ones just expand a bit and feel damp. - I can tell more quickly when they are wet, as they feel stiffer and bulkier when wet; microfiber inserts only become a limp, soggy mess that requires me touching the liner to check if it’s wet (ew). - microfiber is not breaking down in the environment/oceans and is currently alarming a lot of people as it's getting back into our drinking water and we have no idea how it will impact our bodies over time. It might be benign, or it might be killing us (I mean, people used to use radioactive material as fashion makeup until they realized it was dangerous). So, I will try to cut down on microfiber/plastics where I can!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can someone please clarify how I use this product? I received as a gift. Do they go inside pocket diapers or inside a shell like Grovia Hybrid?**
A: Either or...I use the KerrBear diapers and they have the pockets where you can slide the insert inside. It's up to you...I put the clothe insert on top instead of inside more so because if you put the insert on the inside of the diaper then you'll have to change both the cloth diaper along with the insert. I put mine on the top because my babe does not always leak through to the cloth diaper, so I can keep the diaper on her longer...hopefully all this makes since.

**Q: Do you really have to wash them separat from your covers and if so, why?**
A: When it says to separate them, they mean to seperate the insert from the diaper. You can wash them in the same load. They won't get clean or dry well if you keep the insert in the pocket.

**Q: How do I wash and dry these before I use them on a new baby? No directions came!**
A: The advice to use special detergent is really not necessary. In order to prep cloth diapers made of natural fibers (cotton, bamboo, hemp), it is recommended that you wash then dry 3 to 5 times. You should dry between each wash. Because they are not soiled with human waste, feel free to throw them in with your regular laundry such as towels. The reason for the multiple washes is to help get the natural oils off the cloth that are present with natural fibers. For this reason, it is often recommended not to prep them with your other cloth diapers (for the concern of the other diapers getting the oils on them and then causing repelling issues.) I have never done this though, and I've never experienced an issue with repelling. Also, in regards to special laundry detergents... Rock n Green and other "CD Safe" detergents are a total joke. They don't clean well at all, and most people who start out using this detergent end up with stink issues in their diapers (they look clean but smell awful when wet) and even rash issues. It's not complicated with cloth diapers. Just be common sense about them... (don't use fabric softener as that coats the diapers and can cause them to be less absorbent.) Consider them your dirtiest clothes. Wash with a good mainstream detergent such as Tide Ultra Powder and use plenty of detergent (a full scoop) because you want to get out all the yuckies! Rinse a couple of times if you have lots of suds. I know this answer is above and beyond your question, but I just hate to see bad information shared! Cloth diapering fails when it becomes too complicated and when rashes happen due to diapers not being cleaned well. Good luck and have fun with it!

**Q: Can you use these alone with a cover - with these insert against the baby's skin?**
A: I have used these in Flips covers for the last 5 months on my son and I haven't had any skin issues. I always use a wipe to clean off his skin between diaper changes, I put cornstarch baby powder with aloe on him, and obviously make sure he gets changed fairly frequently to help prevent skin irritation. He has never had a rash and any leaks we've had we're from not changing often enough.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love, love, love.
*by A***N on May 18, 2020*

Update: using them for 6 months and I still LOVE THEM. They’re so absorbent. I just ordered 2 more sets so I can use these are my liners in all my diapers. And use the microfiber ones that come with the diapers as cleaning cloths. I LOVE THESE!!!! My cloth diaper friends told me that microfiber eventually sucks, so I decided to look for bamboo and charcoal as she said they’re the best. These are phenomenal. Even when super full (like overnight) there’s no leakage. I do use two liners overnight, so that we don’t need to do a diaper change. 😇. When washed, they’re dry basically immediately and I haven’t noticed any smell lingering. Although, to be fair I haven’t noticed any lingering smell on any of the diapers or inserts. I do wash with vinegar and use just the tiniest bit of detergent, since I really don’t want to go have to go through a stripping process. I order two orders of these and will be ordering more once the microfiber ones completely fail me.
