(Rant) Eset is playing games -- time for me to evaluate other options...
I'll say up front that I like NOD32 -- I've been using it for years on various PCs I own, and have never been aware of any virus problems in that time. But my wife and I both are fairly careful users with good noses for nonsense and hijinks, so we're probably not putting the product to the test.I've stuck with it because it runs quietly in the background, is hardly resource intensive, updates on its own without prompting, and is generally just "invisible" in day-to-day use. Plus the pro reviews are generally positive. But I'm annoyed. My license expired, and I needed a 3-PC renewal, so began shopping around. I'm sure you're aware of Eset's pricing scheme -- the more PCs, and the longer the term, the more favorable price. But I landed here on Amazon for the best rate, this 3-PC version for 1 year for $30. That's quite a discount compared to the online, multi-year discounted rate, at the expense of lost convenience. So I ordered this boxed version, since download isn't an option at that price point. Inside, I get one basically empty CD that redirects my computers to a website, where I end up downloading the thing anyway.Inside the CD case is the license verification code. But there's no way I could find to enter the code directly into my already installed versions, so I had to run through the whole uninstall/download/reinstall/manually type my registration info and activation code into each of the 3 PCs. [edit: found an email in my spam folder containing a new user ID and password that would have eliminated the retyping]Kind of annoying, and evident Eset's playing a pricing game here -- like somehow it's to their benefit to sell me a empty shell of a physical product that necessitates Amazon to stock it and UPS to deliver it, all so I can download it like I would have preferred to do from the start anyway, and toss their plastic and cardboard in the trash. Totally backwards, and a completely disrespectful attitude towards their long time customers, whose business they apparently take for granted.

Good value so far
So far so good. It is low impact and seems to be working.Once nice thing it has that other programs don't have is the ability to turn it off for a specified time. In some cases if I am trouble shooting a problem I can disable the program for 10 minutes and not have to worry about remembering to turn it back on.We have it on two computers so the multi-user license is a good deal.Low nag, high performance. Seems a good value so far. I will change my mind if my computer gets the clap but so far so good.

Buy The Old Version Discounted and Use With The New!
I've been using Eset for years, and they make a great product. Very lightweight and non-intrusive. I forget it's even there sometimes. The price for this was very good for a 3 user since it has been discounted, but you can still download the newest version and use this key to activate it. I actually downloaded the trial of the latest version from Eset's site for a new PC before this was delivered, and just used the product key to activate it without any issue. One issue I ran into with this, which was very easy to resolve. I watch a lot of movies on my PC, and I noticed going from full screen to non-full screen in my video player that Eset would keep popping up telling me there is an issue. I found this was because there is a setting "Enable Gamer mode when running applications in full-screen mode automatically" enabled by default. This is easy to turn off. Just open the program, and from the main window click "Setup" and then click "Enter advanced setup...". In the new window that opens, click the "+" box next to "Computer," and at the bottom of the sub-menu that expands click "Gamer mode" and just uncheck the "Enable gamer mode when running..." option.

Not recommended. I went AVG Premium.
When I found that it is hard to temporarily disable this I removed it from my PC and bought AVG Premium. Periodically I need to disable my Anti-Virus while I download new aps. Also, some of my programs like StorageCraft's Shadow Protect need the Anti-Virus to be disabled so a complete, bare metal image of my hard drive is not corrupted.

Good product
I like the product. Installed on 3 PCs flawlessly. Seems to defend against threats Norton didn't or maybe it's simply telling me it is doing things that Norton didn't tell me yet did. This product combined with Malware Pro makes me feel much safer. No instructions, even on their website, for removing from 1 of 3 PCs to install on new computer and customer support is lame, so that was frustrating.

Best Anitvirus EVAR!!!!!!!1!
ESET is the single best Antivirus I've ever used. As an IT guy, I value a few things:-Don't Slow Down My Computer - I shouldn't notice when it starts up or starts scanning.-Don't let me get viruses - Obviously-Don't try to dazzle me by being pretty - It should just work. For me and clients. This excels on every front. I don't get false positives, I don't have slowdowns, my computer-challenged clients don't have to worry about it, and I don't have to worry about my clients. You literally have to try to get a virus, or be a complete cluster-****, or be involved in things you probably shouldn't be. In the latter case go for the full security suite. Also, the license works cross-platform. Mac/Windows/Linux/Android. 1 License per "device". Old "licenses"/versions/editions are still applicable once activation occurs.Buy it. Dump the rest. forget about it.
