Worked, but then took a pretty light hit and was bent really bad. I have used at least a dozen live centers and never had one fail as easily as this one did. That being said, if you're not a moron like me and don't accidentally bump it with a huge machine, it will probably do the job for you. And for the price you could probably do worse. Both stars were just for the durability and not for how well it actually performed.

Arrived in good condition when expected.During long turning batch, warmed up significantly more than smaller unit that has been in years-long use in our shop. This implies lower-quality bearings than in unit purchased elsewhere years ago.

After a dead center ripped the threads out of my tail stock, I thought a live center might be called for. This one did the trick and appears to be every bit as good as any of the more expensive ones I have owned over the years.

So far, so good, although I doubt if I'd put the maximum weight on it.
