Extraordinary Investigations: The Midas Project: A Puzzle Novel

I happened to wake up very early yesterday morning and thought I would have a look into this while I waited for my family to wake…10hrs later and I had completed what was a really fun day of puzzling.The difficulty level is perfect, I was able to dip in and out during the day and although I used a couple of hints it was never too challenging (if I wasn’t being lazy I probably didn’t need the hints). At the same time it wasn’t too easy so as to be a waste of money or boring.I’ve done lots of these types of things and plenty of escape rooms so I think the thing that I found most impressive is that the book was full of more unusual formats/questions than your bog standard puzzles (no run-of-the-mill pigpen, morse code etc).I shall definitely be buying the other book and can only hope that more are written.Also, when I had finished I had a question and so I emailed them using their “contact us” on their website. I was very pleasantly surprised to receive a very prompt and personable reply directly from the author.Just one thing worth mentioning, I found that the site where you obtain the questions was a little bit glitchy the first couple of attempts to use it, but since I have no idea if that’s their system or my end causing the issue so this is definitely not a problem, I only mention it because if you have a similar situation I would urge you to persevere. On my 3rd attempt it worked perfectly all day long even coping with me leaving big gaps of time between questions at some points through the day (I was using an IPhone). In conclusion I would highly recommend the product, you won’t be disappointed, I loved it so much that I’m going to go through the book again with my daughter (as I will be able to guide her through if she gets stuck).

I bought this book on a whim after seeing it advertised on social media (Facebook I think). It is really good fun. The story is interacting, and I enjoyed researching each case file to find out as much as possible about the history and back story as I could. The puzzles vary in difficulty from fairly straight forward and easy to really quite brain taxing. There were a few that I spent a really long time working out, and one that I still don’t know how to work out the answer (much to my annoyance) but generally they are the right level for a book of this price- neither too easy or too difficult. I’m going to order the other Extraordinary Investigations puzzle book now.

Loved this second masterpiece which somehow managed to flex different parts of the brain and head off down many different puzzling and storytelling avenues. The author has (I think) balanced out the types of puzzles and challenges, so there is even more of a mix and each chapter doesn't major on one type, e.g. maths only. The graphics are also fantastic and hints as useful and well balanced as last time. Enjoyed this hugely and can't wait to see what comes next from the brain of Mr Gillies. Highly recommended as something for anyone who loves a mind-bending bit of engaging puzzling with a cracking story to boot.

Absolutely brilliant, if anything it’s even better than the first one. I found it challenging without being impossible, and really good fun due to the variety of puzzles invoiced. Cannot wait for the next one!!

This is second book, we have finished first book about nazi gold , that was brilliant

Lots of variety, combining puzzles with searching the internet to solve clues.Highly recommend this if you enjoy a challenge and want something a little different.Real sense of achievement when finally you solve the case.
