Q: Isn't it supposed to cone with the wooden rod necessary to hang it?

It does come with the the wooden rod. It's all one piece :)

Q: Would this work as a diaper caddy?

Maybe for powder and creams. The pockets are too small for diapers. I use ours for remotes.

Q: Would the bigger pockets hold printer paper?

No. The whole hanger is about 14' wide. The lower pockets can hold stuff that's about 6'" wide at best.
