When an NEA Grant is up for grabs, The Angry Buddha Theatre Co. thinks they have it in 'in the bag'. After all, who wouldn't want to see their latest protest theater - A STREETCAR NAMED MANZANAR. Everything is great until they lose their lead Jace (David Lee McInnis) to a hit TV show. Then Ben (Ryun Yu) and Viola (Tamlyn Tomita) break up, while Cheryl (Erin Quill) rants, Yuri (Yuri Tag) decides she has to have blue eye, the 'new' guy (Raymond J. Lee) can't stop droppinʼ hip hop beats, and the Technical Director, Sam (Rizwan Manji) can't stop talking about an expensive light board he 'has' to have. It's enough to make their Artistic Director, Lance (Allen C. Liu) lose it. If desperation is the ʻmother of all inventionʼ, Lance decides that Asians doing Gilbert & Sullivanʼs The Mikado is one big MOTHER! Asian Americans doing The Mikado... no one's ever done THAT before, right? And grants LOVE that stuff. Right? IT. JUST. MIGHT. WORK!
