I'm trying to be on top of my sunscreen application after YEARS of never wearing it. My skin is extremely sensitive and prone to eczema. Any chemical sunscreen that was applied to my body (especially the elbow/knee pits) would cause me to break out in horrible eczema patches. I switched to mineral sunscreen, but everything left a ghostly white sheen. Luckily, this sunscreen does exactly as advertised. I've been using it daily for a week straight, and I have had no problems with it. The consistency of this product is thick, kinda sticky at first, and a bit hard to blend/spread out, but I think that's bound to happen with any sunscreen that's actually protective. It may also seem that it leaves a white cast initially, but after letting it dry for a minute or two, it becomes clear. Overall I can't recommend this enough, and I'm glad to finally have a sensitive-skin-friendly mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast :)

Reef safe is bottomline but - I bought this mineral sunscreen for vacation because I wanted strong sun protection in a reef-safe formula. On the most important point, it absolutely delivered: we used it in some serious Virgin Island vacation sunshine and did not burn. Now for the trade-off, the white cast is not subtle. We did not look “a little pale.” We looked like a family of Victorian ghosts who had briefly returned from the afterlife to enjoy the beach. At least it made it very easy to see which areas we had covered and which ones we had missed. Joking aside, I would much rather look comically white than painfully red. Mineral sunscreens are known for leaving some white cast, and this one definitely requires extra time and effort to rub in. Apply it in smaller amounts, work it into the skin thoroughly, and expect at least a little visible residue. It provided the protection I bought it for, kept us from burning, and gave me the reef-conscious mineral formula I wanted. Five stars for performance, just know that “sheer” may depend heavily on your skin tone and your willingness to rub like you’re trying to start a fire or giving a 30 min deep tissue massage that doesn't quite glide.

This is the first review I’ve ever done on Amazon but this product works great. My face is really badly acne prone and I’ve been doing a lot of skin care lately. I just went to the Bahamas this whole past week and used this sheer face mineral sunscreen. After using it no new acne has formed, my skin looks great, NO SUNBURN at all! Even if you are outside and sweat it won’t come off without a facial cleanser. Unfortunately it does leave a white cast but it protects the skin. The other brand I used for my body sunscreen sweated off in 30 minutes and got really bad sunburn that hurts to the touch. I’ll definitely be getting this brand again and getting the body version. Not to mention they have a kids version the minerals are close to some seen in diaper rash cream but made into a safe enriching version for the face. The price is not bad either.

It’s a good sunscreen, but it does leave the face a little greasy/shiny. I used the previous one they had, in a different bottle and I loved that one better. They don’t sell that one anymore (ofc 😒). But, I’ll continue with this one because it does protect against the sun, and my skin feels moist and soft when touched. Also it’s the cleanest ingredients wise at this price point. I have very sensitive skin and this does not irritate it. It goes well under tinted moisturizer, too. Although, I did notice a few little creases of the tinted moisturizer after a while under my eyes. So I’ll have to keep an eye on that, and see if it’s the way I applied it, or it’s because of the oil-ness of the sunscreen. When you first apply it looks very white, but as you spread it around and work into the skin it doesn’t leave a white cast. So, it’s good overall, especially for my sensitive skin.

I wanted to try this because it's one of the "cleaner" brands. I was very worried about white cast since I am very dark skinned. Coverage is good (I tested with a light) and the lotion feels good on my skin. I waited almost a month before posting a review so that I could really test this out over time. Yes, there is initial white cast. However, if I apply it in layers, making sure to massage the lotion in very well, the white cast fades in about 15-2 minutes. I don't wear makeup, so I have to apply this allowing for time enough for the cast to fade. There is still a very minimal white cast but not enough to bother me. If I don't leave myself enough time for this to fade, a tiny amount of foundation completely covers and white cast. You can't see any white cast on the photo of my hand, but there is a teensy bit. When using on my face, I have to massage it in really well, especially around my hairline or that little bit of cast makes a big difference! BTW - the cap really does turn blue when exposed to the sun/UV light. It's so sensitive that it will turn under a weak UV flashlight. Overall, I like this and it's my favorite "back up" product when I cannot get my hands on the French product I normally use. Fun Fact: Blue Lizard was invented in Australia but is now made in the USA. It's also reef-friendly and free of fragrance.

I LOVE THIS SUNSCREEN!!! I am a super white girl (ginger hair, freckles, pale skin) and this sunscreen works PHENOMENALLY! I have noticed in the past that I have reactions to other sunscreen brands, especially on my face. I would notice stinging, red marks, dried skin, etc. no matter what brand I used (cerave, mary kay, banana boat, neutrogena, hawaiian tropic). This is the only sunscreen that both works and causes no issues or pain to my skin. I am extremely prone to skin cancer and for a while I dreaded using sunscreen because of the pain it caused. Now that I have blue lizard, I don’t need to worry about that. I truly love this brand and definitely think it is worth the money!

This sunscreen works well to prevent sunburn and doesn’t burn when applied to my face like chemical sunscreens do however the formula is so thick and greasy feeling on my face. No matter how little I use, it feels so heavy on the skin.

Works great. Used on a trip in Hawaii on a 7 hour snorkel boat tour so I needed heavy protection which this worked great. Had to use reef protected which this brand is. It was a long day so glad this lasted. I will say I usually like lightweight lotion but this was a bit heavy for me but I didn’t get sunburned so it was worth it.

Very little white cast on darker skin tones. The white cast will “melt” into your skin after an hour of wear. Very good for those who need a mineral sunscreen but are worried about white cast due to highly delaminated skin tones

I am a fan of Blue Lizard brand. But the packaging for item is questionable.
