Zen sand gardens are ubiquitous for their meditative and stress relieving effects. Our Japanese zen garden aesthetic was inspired from the Zen Buddhist temples in Japan.Known in Japan as karesansui, or "dry landscape" garden, the rocks or sand encompassing various fixtures such as rocks and trees and bridges were meant to represent flowing water. These rock gardens were stylized to imitate the intimate essence of nature as well as to serve as an aid to meditation about the meaning of existence.The raking of the rocks (or fine sand) is meant to provoke mindfulness as the outcome of the patterns is not what's important but rather the journey. As with the changing flow of water, the patterns in the sand can change to reflect one's current thoughts and emotions.We wanted to culturally immerse the individual in the aesthetics of Zen Buddhism and as such we've included high quality miniatures in our kit that can't be found on any other kit such as:cherry blossom treebamboo treeshigh quality meditating golden Buddha figurinea carefully selected collection of smooth stones and pebbles.Our high quality trays are made from real bamboo and not imitation wood unlike other kits.
