Pet Piller For Dogs and Cats

I just received the one with the soft pliable tip. It's navy, not aqua, but it's definitely the good one. The plunger works well, and exactly matches the plunger on an old one I'm still using that I bought several years ago, but which is showing signs of wearing out (the rubbery tip eventually gets weak and can't grip the pill). I had bought two back then, with a reddish tip, and the first one lasted a long time with constant use. I'd been looking but couldn't find the ones I'd bought before, and I read too many reviews here complaining about receiving ones with a stiff tip that splits, so I decided that my vet must have a good one (about $7). It was terrible: the plunger seemed to be the same type, but it was very stiff to use, and the rubbery tip (navy) was much less pliable, and one side of it split within days of starting to use it. I decided to take a chance with this one on Amazon, and I'm happy - I'm going to order a couple more as backups.

Tried to give my cat a half pill of prednisolone, the size of a barney kernel. The instructions say to pry the rubber tip open, insert the pill and shoot it down the throat by pushing in the plunger. Great. Eh, not so much. The rubber tip does Not Hold The Pill Securely. It falls off each and every time you try although it's a tiny pill. Removing the plunger and placing it in the tube results in a crushed pill. Couple that with the overly long size and try to give a wiggly cat a pill. This is by far the worst pill shooter I've ever, ever come across. Do not waste your money on it. The design is abysmal.

My Chihuahua needed heart pills 2x a day and antibiotics. He was 18 years old and it was very difficult to give him his meds. It was difficult to sneak it in his food because he would eat around it or spit it out. This pill pusher was so worth it! I tried maybe 4 or 5 other ones and they were horrible. The ends were huge with sharp plastic pieces and it was too big to put into the back of his throat. This one has a thin rubber piece that doesn't poke the mouth or throat. It also holds the pill MUCH BETTER! His pills were so small that they would just fall out of the other ones, onto his tongue. And it's thin, which makes it easier to hold and put into his mouth. The back part of it that you press to push the pill out was also better. It didn't have weird grips on it and I could hold it in between my fingers and use my thumb to press it! Definitely get one if you also have a hard time giving meds to your fur babies.

For a while, I have been using a piller that the vet gave me. It worked well, but over time the silicone tips degraded. I got this as a replacement, and it is is very similar. The only differences it that the slits on the sides of the tip are not as deep, so they don't hold on the pill as good as the vet provided piller. It still works very well for pilling my cat, though.

Not sure what happened. This thing was great for the last set of pills. My cat is on pills again and they are getting stuck in the piller. Poor kitty. It is taking me 3-5 tries to finally get it to let go and stay in her throat. I guess you get what you pay for. Basically, it seems to be a one-time-use item.

This is the best and I have had to use 4 different brands... I just replaced a 4 year old popper due to age and the end was accidently steped ona nd broke off... There's a trick to making any of these work, hold dog or cat from above and behind. Use one hand to hold head of your pet and in the other slip the popper in from side and into center of the BACK of your pets mouth/tounge/throat... and not hard or in a jabbing way, just slip in it and then pop the pill popper's end and pill is past where you pet can spit it out.. It takes have dexterity, yes you need to hold the pill popper with one hand, slip it in from the side of your pets mouth and thenwith a free finger push the end in and pop the pill into the back of your pets mouth! Forgive your seld if it take a week or tow or three to get good at it. the cat we have now fusses a bit and if I am not careful he can still gum the pill and spit it out and I've poped 100's of pills for different pets over the yraes as out friends got old and needed meds. The sell is great, the shipping was slow, but could have been the USPS, so I can just say that the price is right and the product is very good.

My dog takes 50 mg gabapentin (2 capsules three times daily), 100 mg carprofen (1/2 tablet once a day), and 50 mg tramadol (1/2 tablet three to four times daily as needed). Until now, I've been feeding the pills to her by jamming my finger down her throat, but she's getting good at fighting me off and spitting them out. Today, I used this pill shooter and it is amazing. I don't even think I get it as far back as with my finger but for some reason, she swallowed. Amazing. I will never go back to the finger method. P.S. I was concerned about the tip falling off, but I tugged at the green tip and it did not move, so I'm confident it will not fall out in her throat.

The pill popper I received felt stiff when dispensing the pill. The opening was very small and I needed to cut it open a bit, but even so the plunger was so stiff it couldn’t deliver the pill. The tube was warped and I think this is why it felt so stiff, but I still won’t be purchasing this again.

Have used to give a Benedryl tabs to our cat. Worked great, kept my fingers safe and was a much more pleasant experience for the cat, as it was so much quicker than me trying to shove it manually down his throat (and often missing and having to try all over again). Recommend! Kitty approved as well.

It does work well and is flexible on the size of pill
