Final update as of 8-1-2023 the knife now weighs 1.740 with all the leather wraps its 1.790 very light a agile for a 13 inch blade. lover itThis is a big up update after 2 years of use and heavy mods but i left up 1 original picture of what the Bowie looked like in 2021 minus the finger grooves removed.in my personal experience in collecting, modding and using knives in real world situations i have come to the conclusion that a knife i bought decades ago called the "black jack anaconda 2 Bowie" is the best all around purpose knife and perfect for survival or doomsday scenarios.I always wanted this style of knife but much large like a 14 machete, that way it can be my fighting knife, shelter builder, trail and field clearing, wood processing, and wood splitting knife that becomes 4-5 tools in 1.when i bought this knife it weighed around 2.2 pounds a very heavy knife that tires you out, i found 1.8 is perfect balance for heavy chopping and fine cutting. I put this in my closet and looking at it again in 2023 like Michelangelo seeing the statue in the rock; i realized with some grinding this knife could be the big anaconda Bowie i always wanted!so after 3 months of grinding when i had the time with my hobby i was able to give this knife a complete make over!1. it now weighs 1.9 pounds very nibble an light2. i now add tennis wraps on the handle i don't know why more people don't do it its cheap, greatly reduces vibration and bone pain, is water resistant and keeps its grip in wet hands. i use HEAD Super Comp Overgrip and i wrapped the sides of the hand guard that reduces hot spots.3. i love the hand guard no need for a lanyard hole with the grips it locks in your had and keeps the knife from sliding away from you4. i grind a new clip point and curved the spine to reduce weight and make it look like the anaconda Bowie5. i lengthened and curved the ricasso as well as extended the edge at the base. adding curves is not just for aesthetics its been found a knife with curves reduces the changes of vibrations causing crack in the steel. but curving a blades geometry takes more work and cost more money; hence why a curvy custom knife costs $$$$ compared to a mass produced knife that is more angular and cheap.this knife was $150 in 2021 and it only $20 more today a perfect steel if you want to create a knife worth much more. From grinding and the sparks produced i can tell this knife is hardened right its closer to 59-60 than 58-59 HRC.for comparison i left a photo of 4 knives in with this design for comparison. starting at the top1. Blade is heavier grade and easily chops vines, saplings, and foliage. Holds a sharp edge.

Within 10 days after purchasing one knife from this company, I ordered 4 more. The fit and finish is a little rough, but I enjoy finishing, so that is a selling point. A little bluing and a little stain and these come out looking exactly like the ones in my collection which are over 100 years old. All the knives from this company appear built to handle heavy work. I'm extremely pleased.
