Some princes drive cars, some princesses wear sneakers.
This book overlaps with Throttled, so I knew part of the story, and I was desperate to find out more.Liam and Sophie first met three years ago. There was an instant thing between them, at least until he figured out she was the daughter of his rival team’s principal. Off limits. But what happens when she joins the tour for a year? They’re both in a weird place. She comes up with a bucket list of things she hopes to experience; he needs to lay low with his contract renewal coming up and being in the press for all the wrong reasons. The first time he sees her, he wants her. But he can’t have her. So maybe he can help her cross some items off her list instead?I loved the tension. I loved how she friend-zoned him. But with every city they visit and every friend date they share, lines start to get blurry. Watching Liam finally open up about his pain and grief, seeing the way they interact… perfect.Until Liam snaps, refusing to ignore how they both feel and finally doing something about it. They settle on friends with benefits and choose to pretend it’s enough. I loved how hot they were together and the moments they shared. And this friends-with-benefits situation starts to look a lot like two people who can’t live without each other. There is other stuff going on, and yes, Liam messes up. But he definitely makes up for it. And that epilogue? My heart!Liam showed her how to live and Sophie taught him how to love. Some princes drive cars, some princesses wear sneakers, and being with the right person matters more than anything else.

Friends to lovers sports romance
Collided is the second standalone novel in the Dirty Air series by Lauren Asher. This story focuses on two characters that Lauren introduced in Throttled, Liam Zander and Sophie Mitchell.Liam Zander is an F1 golden boy with quite the reputation and quite the past. He is very quickly friend zoned by the lovely Sophie Mitchell, the daughter of the rival team's principal. Sophie is fun and lovable, the girl who wears Converse to galas rather than heels. But she is tired of meeting everyone else's expectations and decides she no longer wants to settle. As a result of a bottle of wine and Pinterest, Sophie creates a naughty bucket list for the year. Liam accidentally ends up with her bucket list and agrees to help her live her dreams. These two are so cute! They are the perfect friends to lovers. I am obsessed. Thank you Lauren Asher. One other aspect that I adore about this series and about Lauren Asher as an author is that her characters all achieve individual character growth and development. In both Throttled and Collided, the characters did not lose their own identities.I highly recommend this book for readers who love contemporary romance, friends to lovers, and sports romance. Please know that this series was my first taste of sports romance and that I adore Formula 1. Related, Mr. Mitchell had the best vibes in this book. I would like a novel or novella about his life and perspective please.

Absolutely LOVE Sophie!
Really enjoyed this book. I will admit I was not prepared for the unexpected turn of events so early on in the book & would’ve DEF preferred some type of trigger warning because I think it’s a REALLY sensitive topic to stumble upon with no warning whatsoever (literally sent me into a reading slump for a couple of months & had to put this book down for a long time).Overall however, I still very much enjoyed the book & characters, especially Sophie. I absolutely LOVE her! I need a friend like Sophie in my life *sobs*. Liam was pretty good but I think the author focused a bit too much on making him the “no feelings, strong man” and the way he ‘spoke’ was kind of icky.I must admit, the spice was definitely spicy in this book compared to the first so just a heads up lolAgain, overall I still very much enjoyed this book & im excited to continue with the rest of the series.

Generally not my fav but still a great book.
I will be honest in saying I did not like this book as much as the first one during the bulk of the story. It felt too similar with tropes and character issues. This book’s timeline is the same as book one so there is a lot of overlap. I was constantly trying to remember what happened in the first book and compare the timeline and stories to this one. That was a struggle for me. But looking at this book by itself I think Lauren did a pretty good job with developing the characters. I struggled with Sophie at times bc she was portrayed as a girl who lives on structure but has a spontaneous wild side but I felt like she didn’t always express that wild side enough or true to who she is. I loved when she finally stood up to her dad and had real conversations. And Liam was just tragic. It was definitely a different take on the traditional “I have a screwed up past so now I just sleep around and don’t know how to commit” bc his issues stemmed from losing a friend rather than a lover or bad parental examples of love. It honestly made it less believable for me and I struggled with how long it took him to snap out of it. The HEA part was well done and I liked the way it wrapped up overall. I wish Lauren has included more of how they made Sophie’s art therapy work with her traveling with him during the F1 season. Generally not my fav but still a great book.

SPOILER ALERT
I loved this book. I was mad at Liam for not expressing his love for Sophia but I was so happy at the end he has grown so much since spending time with her. And I'm so glad he stood up for her and himself. And I love that it has a good bit of spice in it.
