If you are looking to build a serious system for competitive use then you will want every competitive advantage you can get without sacrificing quality. Audio control only makes top notch components no matter what you need. The first component i ever owned from AC was a eqx series 2 back in 1995 and it did not disappoint. Nowadays everything has evolved into high tech, very high power systems where wattage is in kilowatts and the amplifiers that are putting out this power need a high quality, stable and regulated signal. The matrix plus will do exactly that and do it well. Using the lights on the unit to dial signal gain makes it much easier to set your gains. Although most probably don't have an oscilloscope i still use it on the outputs to make sure I have a clip and distortion free waveform = clean output. I used this before my dsp ultimately feeding 2 3kw amps powering 4 x 18s and just the addition of this took me from 150db to 158db. I couldn't believe the difference but now I'm sold and wouldn't build a comp system without one. If you are unsure if you need one, don't be. You will only regret not getting one sooner.
