Good little switch
If I had one gripe it would be that (IMO) it is backwards. You turn left for on and right for off, but whatever it works perfectly fine for driving a relay. Mounted tight into the hole I drilled and seems solid.

Good on/off (shunt) key switch.
Came with 2 keys and front washer. Made well. And Locksmith shops can make extra keys.

Good Quality SPST Key lock switch
This is a standard 3/4 inch diameter key lock barrel switch with two flat sides to prevent unwanted rotation. The key can be removed in the ON and OFF positions. The barrel is die cast and the threads are clean. The locking mechanism seems smooth. The connections are for bayonet-style push-on/pull off crimp connectors. There are a number of very similar key lock barrel-style Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switches on Amazon. Here are the possibilities:1. Momentary contact. These only connect the two wires while the key is turned to ON and have a spring for return to OFF. This type is often used to open or close garage doors.2. ON / OFF switches where the key can be removed in either the ON or the OFF setting. This type is used to turn on or off an appliance, magnetic door lock, etc. When someone must have to key to change the state. This switch is this second type. This switch uses flat keys that shift hidden plates slightly so that they are in alignment and will allow the lock to turn. Other available switches have round keys which fit in a round groove. Tiny notches align with an internal ring and push in on it, allowing the internal ring to turn.Note that there are a lot of locks that use the same shape key, so security through the obscurity of the key isn't something you should expect. These locks are to keep honest people honest and to make turning an electrical circuit on or off convenient only for the holder of the key.If you are installing in a metal plate or chassis use a properly designed punch or use a nibbler. Do not just drill a 3/4 inch diameter hole.If you are installing in wood, drill a clean 3/4 inch diameter hole using a Forstner bit, then push the barrel into the hole and slip two thin wood or brass shims beside each flat. Use glue to hold the shims in place. All in all a very good switch.

Exactly what I needed
Exactly what I needed. I installed it in the dash of my boat so the power to the stereo and power amp does NOT go thru the ignition switch and instead goes thru this little beauty. I did this so when I shut off the engine it does not momentarily shut off power to these (would happen because it can't go directly from ON to AUX, instead has to go ON-OFF-AUX) which messes up the Bluetooth connection, the power amp would need a second to figure out the stereo was on again, and in general disrupts the groove from the music (which is a bad thing!). Before doing this I had these directly connected to the battery all the time, but did not like that because then these were in standby all the time (instead of OFF) and were more of a constant drain on the battery. Considering the boat is not being used most of the time, this is kind of a big deal. The ability to remove the key after setting in either in the ON or OFF position is a very good thing. I just fire up the equipment before we go out, remove the key and then do the opposite at the end of the day. I am very pleased at how well it looks, especially considering how little time it took to install. I probably spent 10x more time figuring out exactly where I wanted to put it verses actually doing so!

Parts Voodoo saves the day!
I ordered this keyed lock switch because I lost what I thought was the only key to a vintage sports car. In conversation with a couple of car-guy friends, we came up with a simple solution: mount a generic keyed switch somewhere out of sight, and let it serve as a sort of security system. The wiring is simple enough that we identified where we needed to run the auxiliary wire so that this switch would duplicate the ignition circuit. (Fortunately, this car is old enough that the starter motor is energized by a separate pull switch, so there was no worry about wiring a high-load circuit or solenoid.)THE DAY THAT THESE PARTS ARRIVED FROM AMAZON, a search of an unrelated part of my home filing system identified a spare key, taped to a letter from the previous owner of my car. We took it to the storage unit where the car is kept and hey presto, it fit.So... once again, simply having the part required to make a fix renders the fix unnecessary. Parts Voodoo saves the day!

Looks good but ultimately disappointing; wouldn't buy again.
Initially I was happy with these switches. I was disappointed that they have no tactile response (no "click") when moved, but they were the function and form I was looking for and I thought that they looked to be decent quality. I was mistaken.I installed one of the two I purchased with relative ease. I tested it once before wiring it and somehow the entire key cylinder popped out of the hull. This allowed the small spring inside (and the switch inside) to dislodge. I ultimately gave up after several tries at putting the cylinder back into the lock and installed the second one I'd purchased, leaving me one short. I'm hoping the second one holds up better, but there already seems to be a bit too much play in the lock cylinder which makes me think it will ultimately fall out too. I've requested a replacement for the first one and I guess I'll see what happens over time. I'm not holding out too much hope.On the plus side, both the locks I received were keyed alike as advertised and the keys seem to be of decent material. Not so sure about the cut since they're a bit tough to insert fully, but they don't seem to have any issues turning the lock and don't seem like they'd snap off in the lock under normal use like many of the others on offer here.Comes with a flare washer to compensate for oversized holes but it would be nice if these also included a star or split washer to keep them from loosening up.If given a choice, I'd rather pay a little more and have something of good quality that will last. Ultimately, this was the only option on Amazon, and it fits the bill for now. I'll likely search around the electric supply houses to see if I can find a higher-quality option to replace these when they fail.
