Is it a bit expensive? Yes. Is it better than making your own seed phrase contraption? Absolutely. It's great quality, the packaging is nice, the instructions are clear, it's really solid and sleek and not at all bulky. It will even take up little space in a safe or hiding spot. It's about 1/4" thick and 3/8" thick at the chicago screws. It has decent heft and would make a decent weapon in a sock, ha. I wish I bought this first before getting the cheaper ones you scratch into, or stamping my own washers. One thing they can do to improve is just put a layer of protective film on the outer front and back slabs. Because the first thing I did was scratch it with a screwdriver. To be fair, the whole thing is wrapped in shrink wrap, and it was indeed user error and I can buff out, but who doesn't like a good protective film peel? In fact, it's so nice I wish they made an expansion pack with 2 extra grid plates and longer screws, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Anyway, if you are on the fence, just get it and be done with it. You can cheap out and keep trying to find that certain something or be satisfied the first time.

I like the compact and sleek look of it. Does what I bought it for. Good cold seed storage.

Got these some months ago and I love how sturdy it is and easy to use. It's a must have for persons in the crypto sphere.

The item came in nice packaging and looked like it was a quality product. Started punching with the punch tool and on the 3rd entry, the spring mechanism broke and it no longer punches. Now I have to use a hammer or something to manually punch the rest.UPDATE: Company reached out and sent a new replacement kit. Punch tool on this one worked better than first one. However, I still think the design of the tool needs some work. When you punch with it, it works 2 or 3 times and then it sticks and you have to mess with it a bit to get it unstuck so it will punch again.

This is the best! I first purchased the plates that came with A-Z punches. The punches were not marked to know how to orient them or what letter punch you have. You have to look at the bottom and try to figure out what letter you have and if you have it oriented correctly. Takes forever. This Cryo plates method makes it so simple to find the number that corresponds to your seed word and you just use a marker to dot all the correct numbers then after a final check, lightly punch each with a tap of a hammer then wife off the marker with alcohol. It's so easy and less conspicuous if found. No one would even know what it is. I highly recommend this as the best!

Plate is thick enough but the tap tool they give you is pretty effective. Don't hit too hard or it definitely shows up on the other side a bit.

Ignore the poor reviews. If it arrives used, send to amazon for replacement because people very often send stuff back and say they didn’t use it and it gets sold to another customer. My tips to smooth use:1.) DO NOT USE A LIGHT HAMMER. Tradesmen use 3lb hammers for punches. All complaints here likely are from people who’ve never swung a hammer outside of hanging a picture frame, and used a <1lb hammer.2.) place the plate onto smooth concrete to ensure all of the force goes into the tip of the punch. You will have no issues (one light tap followed by a firm tap)3.) mark the dots beforehand as the instructions state4.) store the plates in separate locations and come up with a pattern, so that even if someone does gain access, going in order from 1-24 does not work and increases the amount of time you have to safely transfer all funds out before the figure out how you ordered the words

This is a great system. I had no issues with the punch tool and I was able to complete everything in a short period of time. I love the fact that the seed backup is compact and not too bulky. The plates feel very sturdy and overall this is one of the best solutions that I’ve seen to store your seed phrase. I’m going to order another one so I can have my backup in two different locations. Highly recommended.
