MT3 to MT2 Morse Taper Adapter Morse Center Sleeve 3MT to 2MT in Prime Quality

I purchased this item to allow using a 2MT center in the 3MT bore of a South Bend 9" lathe. The reason for using a smaller center with a sleeve in the headstock was to get the lathe dog closer to the drive plate; 3MT centers are long. A 3MT center projects about 1.785" from the spindle nose; a 2MT center in a sleeve projects about 1.42".This job requires a hollow-barrel type sleeve, not the type with a tang that is intended for drills. A center has a projection in the back that is not tang-shaped, and will collide with the inside of the tang-holding sleeve before the center bottoms out in the taper.On the other hand, this type of sleeve is probably not suitable for a drill, because there is no tang to lock it against slipping from torque.This device did the job as required. I checked that the runout was low on my sample, though I cannot verify the listed runout specification.I did not find a "made in" specification on the product or the box. The box looks as though it comes from China.

This piece was a bit shorter than I expected which poses a problem taking out of the tailstock as even with the quill fully retracted into the tailstock it won't eject the adapter. I'll need to rig up a ring or something to put in the quill with it.well made though, fit perfectly, I'd say it actually fits better than my 3MT precision mathews drill chuck - which says something to me at least.Would definitely recommend it - just bear in mind how short it is. REALLY surprised me taking it out of it's tiny box.

High quality product with all MT items fitting perfectly. I have not checked RO but visual and initial fit are excellent.

This works perfectly and allows me to change my drill press' big MT3 chuck that will not hold my small bits for a MT2 chuck that will hold my small bits. The MT2 chuck will also fit my lathe
