Good quality for school

This book has been invaluable to me in my research into the growing phenomenon of social isolation many Americans are experiencing. I've noticed this for years and am glad to read that some experts agree. The book was delivered very quickly and in excellent shape. I'm refering to it in my college studies.

Anyone who is concerned about the path our country is on should read this book. It proves that grass-roots leadership is alive and well in America today!!!

Good analisys

Putnam's work is always informative and inspirational.

A few chapters are interesting, but they get repetitive.

If Putnam's previous best seller 'Bowling Alone' was the doomsday scenario then 'Better Together' is the call to arms. Through documented real life examples Putnam and Feldstein offer up a manifesto for the rebuilding of community and the building of social capital. Worth a read for the fantastic feel good stories from across American where communities have come together to tackle various issues and as such have build long lasting social bonds. A must read for anyone working in the community development profession.

After reading "Bowling Alone" and feeling depressed about the decline of social capital in the USA, this book is a real pick me up. Each of the case studies serves as an interpretive and useful feel-good story about how to do community!
