The most challenging aspect was drilling the four corner holes perfectly straight down - to allow for perfect alignment with the black steel backer plate. So, I simply elongated the holes by wobbling the drill bit and I was able to adjust the bolts underneath to line up with the holes on the backer plate. Use of a Lenox 3-1/2" inch hole saw made the install easy, though BE VERY CAREFUL. A few times the hole saw would catch/snag while drilling and stop suddenly and twist my wrist hard. I applied some graphite spray to the hole saw before drilling each hole and I did not push down on the drill - this helped a lot. Be sure to really tighten the bolts, and re-tighten the bolts in a few days. Very pleased with these D-rings.

These worked flawlessly for my motorcycle trailer. Installation is a breeze. If you have a 3.5" hole saw, it takes seconds, but you can route it out with a router as well. The backing plate works great as a template to cut your holes. The diameter of the carriage bolts (and the holes) is 3/8". If you're installing it by yourself in something like a trailer, I'd suggest going up 1 size in your bolt holes to make it easier to align the plate once you're under the trailer (or wherever you're installing it.)They went in quick, have all the necessary parts you need to install them, and they'll hold. I bought mine after a friend showed me he had purchased them to use to hold his Drag car down in his drag trailer. If he trusts them for that race car, I'll trust them with my motorcycle!There are some other versions of this plate by other manufacturers that do not include the backplate. I would personally go with this one. That backplate helps to spread the load out across your flooring surface. The bolts aren't holding your D-rings down. They're holding the backing plate in place and it's doing the job of load distribution across the surface of your floor/wall, etc.I'd gladly buy them again if I needed more for something else!

each set was packaged separately and was easy to follow. They didn't come with instructions, so I had to look up online that a 3.5" hole saw is needed to make these. Buy a good bit as 3.5" is no joke. hard to drill 100% straight thru 1.5" wood but that wasn't this products fault.

Cost more money but well built. Sturdy .

Really simple install with the right tools. These are very stout. Just got them for my cargo trailer for my motorcycle so probably overkill but better safe than sorry. Took about an hour to do four.

The product arrived on time and meets my expectations. These things are heavy thick metal. I have not installed them yet so I can not comment on ease of installation, but it looks very straightforward. Drill one large hole and 4 small ones for the bolts.

Installed the D-rings on my open trailer, to tie down my four wheeler. I used the same brand in my enclosed trailer that I hauled my sprint car in. They're very sturdy and are heavier than the ones in the local hardware store. I highlyrecommend them.

I haven’t hauled anything but plan on using them to tie down my side x side. I’ll start with a 5 based on install. I used a 3” hole saw for the initial opening then used a sawzall to make the opening a little bigger to fit the underside of the ring. Install was easy enough and the quality is good.

4 stars, I wish the kit came with actual instructions. Seems a bit silly but was surprised to only find a paper with pictures of different products.. Look on the product page on Amazon if you want to find out the specs of this product…Bought the pack for a cargo trailer conversion into a camper / toy hauler. If you do the math, this kit with the hardware and backing plate is pretty much the same total price as if you were to procure every item separately from another manufacturer, less the time and hassle !Very easy to install, but I took the extra time to make them fully recessed by routing 1/8” on the surface after drilling the center 3.5” hole and bolt holes to have it flush with the deckAs others have mentioned, a 3.5” hole saw is “required” but I got away with making the hole with the router using a round shape of exactly that diameter, saving a few $$ on a hole saw that will not be used again.Now I can haul a giant bike with confidence. I haven’t yet taken it on rough roads but this is not going anywhere when tied down.
