Cookware is like hard disks or porn stars...
...it's never as large as claimed. I ordered a "two quart" sauce pan a few weeks ago; filled to the very brim, it holds a quart and a half. That's typical. Fill this kettle to the "Max" line and it holds two quarts, not three. I'm okay with that, though; a two-quart kettle is what I wanted. That's why I ordered a "three quart" one.I want to brew my tea in the kettle, so I was somewhat concerned about cleaning; would I be able to fit my fat hand through the top opening to scrub the inside? Yes, no problem. Very happy about that. I'm 5'11, 235 for comparison; if you're 6'10, 280, you may have trouble. On the other hand, on your NBA salary, you can probably hire someone to wash your dishes for you.On the great whistle controversy, I say it doesn't work. No big deal; just hang around the kitchen until the kettle boils. There're ALWAYS things to do in a kitchen! When the kettle boils, pour yourself a cup and relax. On the whole, a good purchase, but I'm still annoyed by the false advertising with respect to capacity. They all do it, so they all lose a star.-----OK, I take it back; the whistle DOES work. It needs a full head of steam, though, and if I'm in the kitchen, I'll notice other signs of boiling and turn down the heat before the boiling is vigorous enough to set off the whistle. When it does blow, it's very loud and I can hear in several rooms away. Another thing, you need to press the lid down firmly to seat it well and prevent steam leaks. This has become my most-used piece of cookware (unless you count the induction unit I heat it on.)

Heats Quick
All in all, it's a simple easy to use, efficient, kitchen tool. DRY AFTER EACH USE. The lid will corrode if you store it on the stove top with water in it.

Finally, a good teakettle
Having searched endlessly for a teakettle that meets certain criteria (top opens to allow for adding water easily, lid flips up and stays -- so the burner can keep it hot without a constant whistle), this one far surpasses three others I've tried. It heats the water quickly, holds the heat well, whistles slowly (I mean, if I'm beside it I can hear it boiling and use the water before being blasted by the whistle...but if I'm out of the room it will whistle loudly when it reaches a full boil).I'm pleased with this one...and trust me, I've tried SEVERAL!

12 Gallons hot steaming water later. Very nice.
One of a few items I have bought without buyer's remorse. Does the boil very well. Does need a cloth for handle. Handle does get hot. But the Kettle is full of boiling water. I find it not at all a problem.

Has Held Up Great
We purchased this tea kettle a few months ago and it has been working excellently. It is far better than the kettle we had prior to this one. My favorite part is there is no color on the outside that peels off from the heat, as this was an issue with the one we had before.

I like this kettle!!
It is just the right size, has a nice heavy bottom for heating and durability, the handle folds over to get out of the way for filling, and, as long as you boil the water with the handle in the upright position, it does not get hot enough to need an oven mitt even when left to boil a few minutes. Very important for me as I often don't remember to reach for one! Also, the whistle is loud enough to hear in another room but not obnoxious. Love that it is stainless steel and I can tell you that fingerprints do not show on it. Finally, it looks great on my stove!! What's not to love? I would buy again or give it as a gift!

The rubber tab on the whistle can come off when opening.
This teapot looks nice. However, the pour spout can be difficult to open and the protective rubber on the spout (where you press to open) comes off easily and without warning.

Working great so far.
Only had for a week and it seems fine so far. Was concerned about how loud whistle would be but it's fine.
