The Children of the Stars Book One, SAIQA: Science FIction: Volume 1 Paperback – 28 Jan. 2016

I loved this book! I was hooked from the beginning and now I'm impatiently waiting for the sequel. This writer has a way with words that I love - compelling phrases capture my attention and I want to stop, re-read and ponder them, and sometimes write them down. So much of what he writes feels true and that it really will be this way in the future, and we are getting to experience it now, in this book. Love the characters and how they feel so real, staying with me even after I was finished with the book. I truly believe this series could become a wonderful movie.

In general I enjoyed this book. a lot of good ideas. but there were things things that threw me off. for example it seemed to switch scenes all of a sudden at times and left me wondering what just happened. and there is a romantic encounter somewhere in the middle that came out of no where and I mostly skimmed it. it seemed so out of place. I loved the telepathy, and most of the characters. the author did seem a bit obsessed with acronyms which were difficult to keep straight. I especially enjoyed the indigenous characters.

I'd like to start by saying I do not normally gravitate toward sci-fi novels, I'm more of a short story fan, but this book caught my eye so I purchased it. And I could NOT put it down. I was drawn into the story immediately, loved the idea and the very essence of SAIQA, and the many, many ways I could imagine life so very far into the future. I am now quite impatiently waiting for the next book in this incredible series of the Children of the Stars and hope that more will follow!

For me this book was a great escape and I looked forward to reading more every evening after work. It is highly imaginative regarding what our future as human beings could look like with nothing seeming ridiculous or questionable. The characters were very vivid in my imagination and when I would read , I would simultaneously feel like I was watching one of my favorite adventure movies. Obviously Mr. White put many hours of research into this sparkling gemstone of science fiction and it paid off in the world he created inside this book's pages. I am very eager to find out what happens next!

The more i read of this book the more i loved the details worked into the characters, the unfolding of the plot, and especially the thematic nuances that beckoned to some favorite classic authors of mine like Hermann Hesse and Isaac Asimov. Its a delight to analyze for such historic associations in the Sci-Fi hall of fame, but its even a greater joy to be engrossed with new SCi-Fi that stands alone on its own. And with the plethora of novels out there, the choice is easy to ignore most of them – this however is one not to pass by.
