It has been a year since Prue (Shannen Doherty), Phoebe (Alyssan Milano), and Piper (Holly Marie Combs), were each endowed with a unique, magical ability after discovering the Book of Shadows in their attic, and while Phoebe and Piper are in the mood for celebrating, Prue is emotionally incapable of using her telekinetic gifts. Powerless to have saved her ex-lover, Andy Trudeau (Ted King), from death in season 1, Prue's grief prevents her from cooperating with her sisters in a battle against a demon who steals the all-important Book. That's just the beginning of the Halliwells' otherworldly troubles. The second season finds the sisters also taking on brain-zapping Warlocks, a Demon of Hate, a Darklighter who inspires thoughts of suicide among the living, evil witches, and--get this--the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, who turn out to be quite dapper (albeit nasty) fellows. Meanwhile, Piper struggles to raise $60,000 to open a happening new club (at a site where two other clubs have failed) while also juggling romantic feelings for two guys, one a hunky new neighbor and the other last season's handyman character, Leo (Brian Krause), who turns out to be a Whitelighter (a kind of an angel). Prue's job at the art gallery gets a bit wobbly, and she gives unintentionally mixed signals to a very nice man who likes her a lot. Phoebe, for her part, is still in school and meets a handsome prospect at a dating service--then has to save him from a succubus (a female demon who seduces men and then kills them). Season highlights include the episode "She's a Man, Baby, a Man," in which Prue--due to a botched spell--becomes a man (a clever and funny performance by Doherty). In a reversal of Tootsie's feminist theme, Prue learns how to be a better woman for having a been a man, though a lot more repairs take place at the house while she's a he. "Animal Pragmatism" concerns yet another spell gone awry, this one turning a pig, a rabbit, and a snake into full-grown men with the characteristics of the creatures they were. The final show, "Be Careful What You Witch For," is a lot of fun, co-starring French Stewart as a genie who makes a lot of mischief at the same time the sisters are trying to put a Dragon Warlock in his place. --Tom Keogh Review: Charmed Charges Into Season 2!! - Now after the success of the first season, Charmed's second season picked off exactly where it left off!!!! This season is actually more laid back than the first, as it is more light-hearted!!! But there is still a lot of drama and suspense this season, it's just not as intense as the first!! This season's new characters: Dan and his neice, Jenny who move in next door!!! This season includes the Piper, Leo, and Dan love triangle!!! But who will Piper chose..? Prue makes a career change and Phoebe goes back to college!!! Here is season 2: Witch Trial-Good Episode!!! "It's the sisters' 1st anniversery since they've been witches when a demon named Abraxas steals the Book of Shadows!!!" This was a good premiere, we get to see old demons return, and seeing Prue still dealing with Andy's death was sad and understandable. Piper also gets her own club, P3! Morality Bites-Amazing Episode!!! "When Phoebe has a premonition of her execution in 2009, the Charmed Ones travel into the future to find out what happened and find some shocking changes!!" This is definatley one of the best episodes of Charmed!!! The ending almost made me cry when I first saw it! The Painted World-Good Episode!!! "Prue gets trapped inside an old painting, while Phoebe casts a spell to make her smart!!!" This episode was very original, and it had a nice twist. We see Phoebe's fighting skills for the first time! The Devil's Music-Weak Episode!!! "The Charmed One must stop a music manager who is giving innocents to a demon!!!" I just recently saw this episode on TNT and it was one of the worst episodes this season. She's A Man, Baby, A Man-Great Episode!!! "Prue becomes a man so the Charmed Ones can stop the Succubus from killing single men." This episode is just funny, Shannon as a man was just hilarious! Piper begins to like Dan! That Old Black Magic-Good Episode!!! "The Charmed Ones must help a teenage boy defeat a 200-year-old evil witch named, Tawatha!" This episode was refreashing, the sisters needing help from an innocent. We meet Jack, Prue's new co-worker. They're Everywhere-Good Episode!!! "Phoebe must help Brendon and his father from the collector warlocks, while Prue and Piper cast a reading minds spell!!" This episode was the usual save the innocent episode, with some funny sisterly interaction! P3 H2O-Great Episode!!! "When Prue witnesses a death at a Camp's lake, the girls are forced to deal with the demon that killed their mother 20 years ago!!" We learn about Sam, their mother's whitelighter, and how they were in love. This storyline continues into Season 4 were we learn even more. Ms. Hellfire-Great Episode!!! "When the Charmed Ones are attacked by an assassian, Prue takes the identity of assassian to find out who was behind the attack!" Prue gets a new power: Astral projection, Antonio Sabato, Jr. guest stars, and Barbas returns. Heartbreak City-Weak episode!! "The Charmed Ones must help Cupid stop a demon named Drowsy from destroying the love of couples!!" This was a little too cutesy but the scene where Cupid tells how many guys Phoebe has been with was so funny. Reckless Abandon-Great Episode!!! "The Charmed Ones must protect a baby from a ghost who is killing off the men of a rich family." This episode is very light and very dark. The way the ghost, Elieis is vanguished was refreshing. Awakened-Amazing Episode!!! "When Piper becomes ill because of a deadly disease, Prue and Phoebe casts a spell to save her only to cause deadly consequences!" This episode is also a Charmed best, The ending was very emotional! Prue decides to quit her job at Bucklands, Phoebe decides to go back to college, and Leo becomes mortal. Animal Pragmatism-Weak Episode!!! "Three of Phoebe's classmates casts a spell that makes three animals human!" This was probably the worst episode of the season, the plot was pretty good, though. Pardon My Past-Great Episode!!! "When Phoebe is haunted by the events of her past life, she goes back to that life to find out some shocking details." This episode was amazing, our 3 leads acted well in the 1920s setting, and Anton made for a great villain. Give Me A Sign-Good Episode!!! "When Baine is attacked by a demon and escapes jail, he kidnapps Prue in hope of her helping him." Antonio Sabato, Jr returns and this is the first time we hear about the Source! Prue wants to become a photographer, and Piper decides to be with Leo, like we didn't see it coming. Murphy's Luck-Great Episode!!! "When Prue casts a spell to help a famous woman, she becomes the new target of a darklighter!" It was sad seeing Prue so depressed due too Shannon's great performance, and Leo gets his wings back. How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans-Pretty good episode!!! "When the sisters' Aunt Gale comes over, they have no idea that she needs their powers for a deal with a demon!!!" I feel bad for Aunt Gale, it's too bad they couldn't save her. Chick Flick-Great episode!!! "The Charmed Ones must stop the Demon of Illusion who is making movie charaters real." This episode, while corny, was very original and entertaining. All the horror movie situations were funny, and all 3 actresses played it off well. Ex Libris-Weak episode!!! "Phoebe must help her dead classmate, Charlene, while Prue must help a depressed father find justice for his daughter's murder!!!" Piper meets Leo's old wife. The main plot dragged but I liked how they used Charlene to make the murderer confess, it was a nice touch. Astral Monkey-Great Episode!!! "Dr. Williamson, Piper's doctor during her deadly illness, accidently gets all of the sisters' powers, causing him to go insane!!!" This episode is very dark, which Holly gives an amazing performance and seeing Dr. Williamson transformation was very disturbing! Apocalypse, Not-Good Episode!!! "When Prue and War, one of the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse get trapped in a vortex, Piper and Phoebe must chose whether to save their sister or the world!" The 4 horsemen could have been great villains but they are underused. The sisters also learn that there are more important things then saving a sister. Be Careful What You Witch For-Pretty good episode!!! "When a Genie appears to the Charmed Ones, he grants them 3 wishes that leave horrible consequences!" This was a good episode, but weak finale! Piper and Leo go up to meet the bosses upstairs, which this will continue into next season!!! Season 2 was a good season that sets up greatly for Season 3, one of the best seasons of the series!! So enjoy the dvd when it comes out and re-live the Golden days of Charmed!!! Review: A good second season - Season two of Charmed took the show in a slightly different direction. It still used the "monster-of-the-week" format but did things like incorporating music much more into the show, largely by having notable bands and musicians like The Cranberries, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Paula Cole (not signing the Dawson's Creek Theme Song) perform at the sisters' club, P3. So, if you are a fan of the late 1990s/early 2000s music, the show will really give you nostalgic flashbacks. The show also introduced two new characters, Dan Gordon (played by Greg Vaughan) and his niece Jenny (played by Karis Paige Bryant) as the sister's new neighbors. Dan was a series regular the entire season and used to introduce a love triangle into the Piper-Leo relationship, and Jenny was billed as a series regular for a handful of episodes, then was dropped to a recurring character, then written out of the series partway through the season. Dorian Gregory's role was also expanded as the sisters would help Darryl solve various supernatural crimes. For those who get the Blu-Ray set, the show looks okay in the HD format. Sometimes it looks great, and sometimes the HD format really highlights just how bad the special effects still were back then. The CGI was a bit better in season two than it was in season one, but only slightly and you can really tell how fake things were when watching in HD. As far as extras go, there are none. There are no deleted scenes, no gag reel, and no behind-the-scenes material. Just the episodes themselves. And, unlike the season one Blu-Ray set, the episodes are not captioned at all which is a pain for people who are hard of hearing and rely on the captions. Overall, the show is good, even if a bit cheesy at times. Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, and Alyssa Milano had great chemistry together, and if any of the tension that has been rumored between members of the cast had started during the filming of season two, it was not evident in any of their performances. The show also included a great set of recognizable guest stars including Dean Norris (who would go on to be a co-star on Breaking Bad), Misha Collins (who would go on to star in Supernatural), Arnold Vosloo (from the Mummy movies), Amy Adams, Billy Drago (the wonderful character actor who played mostly bad guys throughout his career), and French Stewart. If you were a fan of the first season, the second season is definitely worth watching.

I loved 'Charmed', and I adore actress Shannen Doherty. Although the show ent on for another five seasons once Doherty left the series, I had always wanted to sit down and watch seasons 1 to 3 to see the show as it had been intended. I still enjoyed the show from S4 on, but its S2 I needed to finish my Shannen Doherty set. I am super excited, and loved it when it aired back in 1999 on the WB, or was it the CW?. Anyways, I now own all 3 original seasons, so I feel a "Charmed' fest coming soon. Rose McGowan was a nice addition to the series in S4, but it's the classic first three seasons I wanted to start with. And now, with S2, I finally can. it took forever for me to find this reasonably priced. Thank you, Amazon.

I can't believe that this is coming out so soon, i'm so happy about it! It's taken them years to release the Charmed Series on DVD and now they're coming thick and fast. I've got friends in America mad cause we're getting this one first and this is when Charmed was at it's hight in my opinion. The Second Season is much like the first in the way of being a 'demon of the week' thing but there are many arcs building under the surface - the main one being the Piper, Leo and Dan love triangle growing to a excellent climax. This season features brilliant episodes such as 'Mortality Bites', 'Awakened' and 'Chick Flick' and has alot of original storylines and some excellent acting from Shannen, Holly and Alyssa - you can't fault these girls. My favourite Season is three and at the rate they are coming out, i'm hoping for it by the end of the year. :D Got it Pre-Ordered and all i can say is - 'Roll on August 1st'. Keep them coming,
