Rockin' into the night
I work from home and online. And I can only stand so much silence around me while doing my job. And I love music. And laptop computer speakers just cannot get the job done when attempting to replicate the thumping bass notes from my favorite rock songs. So I looked around on Amazon, did some price comparisons, and settled on this twin speaker/subwoofer set. Now, the desktop speakers are not huge but the sub is powered and has its own volume control so I can set it for the power level of BOOM that I want. And I love the BOOM so it's set pretty high. The quality of sound is light years beyond computer speakers and I have the desktop speakers set to either side of my laptop (I have an additional three screens tethered to the laptop) so the set up is a little tight. But it is SO worth it! The sub is set on the floor by my feet and it keeps my toes very happy tappin' as it thumps out the low end of the tunes. Super easy to set everything up, just plug and play. If you're looking for a compact speaker set that also has some very good sound reproduction this setup fits the bill!

More than what I expected
USB-powered speakers are expected to be basic, low-powered speakers. When I saw this unit was a 2.1 system with a sub, I laughed. For $24 can't hurt to try.Fired them up, blasted some tunes, it's not bad. Speakers are much louder (without clipping) than I expected. They're loud enough for listening to music and youtube videos. They're not hi-fidelity 100W speakers, so set your expectations prior to purchase. Wattage = Power = how loud they go before sounding like junk. When hooking them up, be sure to use the most modern USB port you have; USB 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 (whatever Intel calls it these days, names change a lot) as the USB power spec is much higher on newer ports than older ports.E.g. - USB 2.0 is rated for 5V 0.5A = 2.5 Watts. As you crank the volume, you'll potentially nuke your USB controller from overdraw or cause intermittent USB Mouse and Keyboard issues (like I experienced). USB 3.0 is rated at 5 Volts & 0.9 Amps = 4.5 Watts, which is plenty. Remember, this unit is rated for 16W, this is the MAX draw they can pull, not the Max they'll get, which depends on your USB ports. If you have the option to, get a cheap, powered USB Hub, so you can provide dedicated power to the speakers without nerfing your motherboard's USB controller. Or, get a simple Y cable to pull power from 2 ports at the same time.My USB power is fine, but at much higher volumes, my motherboard's USB started calling it quits. I switched power from onboard to a powered USB hub rated for 30W, and it's fine. I daresay it got a bit louder since it has more power to use :)Overall, great speakers for the money. My objective was met: Pump some tunes and don't break the bank!

Don't wast your money.
I bought these speakers to connect to my tablet, which I mostly use for streaming while I fall asleep. Turns out that the tinny sound out of my tablet is a lot better than these speakers.First, the maximum volume is not very loud. Even at maximum volume on the speakers and maximum volume on my tablet, we're talking conversational level at best.Second problem. If the volume is high enough to actually hear anything from the source input, the speakers emit a whiny feedback sort of noise. I tested on different surfaces and different devices, always got the same issue.Third problem is bad design. The volume and bass controls are on the back of the subwoofer, so not easy to adjust unless the sub is always within arm's reach.Overall, bad sound quality and bad design. Don't waste your money. Cough up an extra few bucks and buy something that will actually work.

I love it
I love them the bass of amazing! This works on my monitor connected to my Xbox, PlayStation, PC and switch. Every console. The cords are a bit short so it’s very ideal to hook this up to a monitor.

Needs a power block!!!
So this is a good system if you want a crisp sound . If you are looking for BIG bass this is not the unit! For obvious reasons anyone who knows about quality sound at very high volume you need to pay some good money . The company would have an ideal product considering price if they would include a power block. They seem to market this product as a "plug in your laptop " and get great sound . Maybe thats possible at a lower volume . I plugged in mine to a 1.5 amp 5 volt block that was tested and in good working order. I had it connected to a record player via aux jack to rca adapter I got a lot of clipping at 3/4 way volume . The crisp sound that it produced was pretty impressive though it was seldom clipping .At full volume it was shut itself down after 10/ 15 seconds, probably a safe mode feature in the electric circuit. I did not have or another higher amprage power block but Im pretty sure that was the issue. I did not connect to my laptop in fear that it would draw to much power from the usb port and did not want to risk burning that port. I probably would have kept it if I had a better power block which I think it needed. Over all sound was very crisp the highs were really excellent bass was better heard at lower volume. I really would not suggest plugging this into a laptop usb until one could find out first what the amp draw/capacity is on your laptop, tv , or any other device with a usb powered port unless you can care less for that particular device. My opinion, a sufficient power block would be a 5 volt 3 amp or higher for this to live a long healthy life . Sound is good!

good sound and great price.
Was skeptical but am actually impressed with this 2.1 setup. For the price, it sound and perform excellent. Highly recommended. Highs and vocals are clear, the bass is deep and distinguishable. The speakers are lightweight and it powers off our USB port. Perfect for a small PC gaming setup. Ofcourse there are better speakers but for the money this does the job just fine.
