If the locking mechanism was modified this would be a great tool for the money
These shears are nicely made with good weight. In the limited use they are getting now they have worked great. I have to mark them down for the locking mechanism though. It just doesn’t seem secure to me and I’ve fiddled with it too much trying to make sure I’m comfortable it doesn’t just pop open. And no, I’m not comfortable. I’ve had 3-4 pairs of shears over the years and these aren’t the worst but definitely not the best.

Easy to use
My hands have some arthritis and I needed a good clipper to replace one I lost. I looked at cheaper ones but decided to buy this one because of recommendations. I am very pleased with it. I fits in my hands very well and moves easily. I give it a 3 though on locking because I found that a little challenging.

Happy I switched brands
I had a pair of Fiskars pruning shears for years and years. Finally wore out. Got a second pair of Fiskars which wouldn't cut even thin rose bush stems within one season. I took a chance on this brand and I'm very happy I did. I did have to use a screwdriver to loosen the safety lock but other than that, I'm impressed by the sharpness and quick cut of these shears. Comfortable in my hand. Very sturdy but not heavy. A good buy. Would recommend.

Has one problem.
Cuts really well. The only problem with the tool is the locking mechanism that continually slips to lock the shears in the middle of using it. It has a screw to adjust this, but I have yet to figure what degree of tightness or looseness that will prevent this from happening.

Finally, a proper set of pruning shears
I've not yet put the pruning shears to a serious workout. However, based upon limited usage, I am indeed impressed by these shears. The blade is very sharp and makes it reasonably easy to cut even fairly thick branches. Slender branches require essentially no effort to cut through. Definitely comfortable handle as well. These are definitely the best pruning shears I've ever purchased.

An instruction sheet should be included; an improved "spur" is needed.
An instruction sheet would be useful to explain some things, such as 1) that the little notch in the base of the blade is there on purpose (I suspect some customers have mistakenly thought it was a flaw and returned it); 2) precisely how to compensate for any eventual looseness in the joint with the adjusting gear-gadget (under the other screw)—an illustration or two would be helpful. The locking "spur" is a bit too long and thus requires that the shears be squeezed together with an uncomfortable amount of force before it engages. To alleviate this, 1) the thumb-ridge should be twice as high, and/or the entire spur mechanism should be 50% longer (like the just-introduced Bastex shears), in order to make it easier to push the spur securely into place; and 2) the spur's tip should be shortened slightly. (I ground mine down on a bench grinder, holding it with a pliers. Be careful to catch the little washer when unscrewing the spur, and to replace it under the spur when reassembling. Caution: doing this will expose the tip of the blade to your pocket lining when the shears are locked closed.)Of course, from my experimental trials and from its high-quality in other respects, this item superior to everything else out there (including my three prior shears), so my three-star rating is just meant to get the attention of the manufacturer so he'll correct its two flaws.(In my initial review yesterday I mistakenly thought, from a quick look at its illustration, that a cheaper brand of shears was identical to this one. Sorry.)
