German Now! 8.0

i have been using many transparent languages other than this "Learn German now". the product works well for practicing on pronunciation without a teacher. Recording tool is the best features of this disc because i can check if my pronunciation is closed enough with the native speaker.

I bought this for my girlfriend because her mother is German and she always wanted to learn. She found herself literally falling asleep at the computer !!! The speech recognition doesn't work worth a damn !! I could say most anything in English and it would rate me as good ! The whole thing doesn't seem to have any planning associated with it. You just muddle around trying to learn German. I sent it back to Transparent for a refund. Let's see if at least they can get that right. If you are a beginner, STAY AWAY FROM THIS !!! Try Rosetta Stone, it seems more for beginners.

I bought this as an intermediate/advanced beginner, anyone else thinking of buying this product (or any other by the same manufacturer) should consider the following.1. The claim its for beginners and intermediates is a lie, its intermediate material.2. The sound quality on the fundamental german section is noisy, lots of background hiss.3. The sound quality on the conversation section is not noisy but sounds like the recording mic is in a tincan and in another room.4. The choice of subject matter is not that useful.5. The voice recognition is total balderdash.I have given it 2 stars instead of 1 as I only paid 10 pounds for it, though 5 would be its real value imo.
