As a former U.S.N. - Quartermaster this German made instrument fits the bill as it nearly meets Milspecs-without having the costs. For nautical use both day and night as well as for astronomical application the light gathering capabilities of this binocular is all that one can expect for the quality and price. I've yet to use this 7X50 Binocular in "dirty weather," but can say it is well armored and should be able to withstand the rigors of "Mother Nature," and "King Neptune." The only thing that is a drawback is during night time conditions viewing a lighted object makes a "star," which to this writer is a minor issue. Overall, considering all its features, as well as a "Lifetime Warranty," it is Outstanding. To keep this unit from being purloined, I purchased the package which included the "Floating Strap," which is easy to spot. As the 7X50 remains the Navy Standard for general purpose use, this instrument has much merit. According to data received from Steiner - Customer Service, this unit is -in fact- Nitrogen Filled for Anti-fogging Capability.

These binocs are heavy, but I don't find that to be a drawback. The weight adds to the stability so you don't see as much jiggle in the image. It lacks the cheesy "range finder" scale some others have, which I find to be distracting. Just two clear images just what I want. Very good binocs!

My second pair of auto focus Steiner Binoculars. Both are very nice. Very clear .. eye relief is forgiving .. tough as nails .. my first pair has been on many hunting trips including Alaska, Colorado .. in terrible weather performed like a champ and the rubber finish kept them looking like new. I use them when stargazing as well .. that’s how clear and aberration free they are .. as they say “get you some”

Beautiful view for the price and rugged protection. Stiener just makes solid field glasses and these are perfect for everyday field use.

I bought these to replace an older pair if cheaper binos. My experience with Steiner optics came from using them in the Army. They are well built and for the cost they work very well, however they are not MILSPEC. With that said, the image quality is very good, they gather light well in lowlight conditions, however when a another light source enters the field of view, such as an aircraft or a set of car headlights, the distortion created blurs the field of vision badly. My actual MILSPEC Steiner's don't have that happen. And my Kowa's, Vortex's and Swarovski's don't do that either, but in the light of day they are very, very good.

They seem to focus pretty well but I think they're a little bit overpriced from what you get.

High quality with extensive warranty. Very pleased with this product. Used for daily nature walks on our property. Performance during low light applications meets our expectation well.

For those looking for a mid-size porro prism binocular, this one is for you. Although it is classified as a military marine binocular it can be used for general purposes. Stylish and very well made. Easy to carry around because of its light weight and to further add to its credential, it has fixed focus lens which mean that you just have to focus once on the left and right diopters and you are good to go. Its clarity and brightness is amazing. Although it will hurt your pocket a bit, wait for the price to drop and then snatch it.

ミリタリーマニアですが憧れのシュタイナーを手に出来て大満足です。以前はT社の軍事用モデルを長年使用していました。それも良く見えるのですがやっぱりこれは良いです。以前は大変高価でしたがセカンドエディションの登場で少し安く買えるようです。性能は視野も広く明るく良く見えますし文句は無いです。独特な形状のボディも頼もしくガッチリしてますが見た目に反して軽量です。デザートパターンの可愛いファスナーケースが付いているのも御愛嬌です。持って出掛けたくなりますよ。迷ってる方は是非。

Great binoculars. Excellent glass, rugged, light weight. Due to the 30mm objective FOV is relatively narrow and the glass isn't as bright as something with a larger lense but that is to be expected. The tradeoff here is for the compact size and lightweight. I love the focus-free system, its faster and easier to use than the standard focus wheel you'll see on other binoculars.

I love these binoculars. However, mine were defective. One side fogged up in hot weather. I can’t understand why it passed Steiner’s QC. Quite disappointing! Anyway, I returned them and Amazon refunded me. I ordered a new pair and so far no issues.
