A very good brand
I have purchased several brands of golden berries, some better than others. Some inconsistent. But I have enjoyed all the ones I have purchased from this company. This last bag was a little bit drier, but still very flavorful and satisfactory. Some other bags from this same company have been moist and perfect. I will continue to buy this type.

Nature's own sour patch kids - highly recommended.
As a sour neon worms addict trying to make better choices, I was made aware of golden berries by Vani Hari's book. Idea of nature's sour patch kids sounded too good to be true but I decided to give it a shot. I first bought the Navitas brand. I was pleasantly surprised. These little berries, vary in color, tasted really good and sour! Even my 4 year old liked them and sucked on them, which I prefer to candy. When I ran out, I started searching for organic golden berries NOT made in China. I found these Healthworks golden berries from the Andes and they tasted just as good as those of navitas, but I could get twice as much, which was an unexpected benefit. I highly recommend these, as a snack on its own or addition to trail mix, oatmeal etc, wherever you would use raisins. These have now become a staple in my household and I have them on subscribe and save. Keep up the quality Healthworks! I will also say though that these are not for everyone. Some people that tried these think they are too sour and I found combining them with mulberries gives it a perfect balance. So on,y order this if you, like me, really like the sour taste.

Sweet and Sour Berries
I add these to smoothies, but since I store them in the freezer and they are hard and dry when they come out, I usually add them to water kefir first, letingt them soak while the kefir is carbonating in a bottle. Then they are sweet and soft when I make the smoothie. They can be eatten out of the bag, as well. The taste is a bit like figs (perhaps they come to mind because both fruits have many tiny seeds in them - if you hate that aspect of figs, you might not like golden berries). The taste is a bit sour, but in a nice sweet way. :-)

Intensely tart and tasty berries
I'd never tried golden berries before, so I can't compare these to other brands, but they seem fresh and plump for dried fruit. I was a little shocked at how intensely tart they are, but they're sweet and delicious, too, with an interesting rubbery chewy texture and a slight crispy crunch from the seeds. I haven't quite figured out what to add them to because they seem like they'd overwhelm a lot of things, but eating a few of these tangy berries alone definitely wakes me up anytime I'm feeling a little sleepy. :) So with all of their health benefits, I'll probably be making these a regular part of my diet one way or another. Not sure if I'll ever get used to their extreme tartness, but I'll try!

Surpisingly Tart
Great packaging and freshness. We appreciated that the bag is resealable. These berries were noticeably more tart than other brands, which made them difficult to eat as often as we'd like, so might branch out next time and try another company. Healthworks has amazing goji berries though, so it's still a company we trust!

Hooo weeeee that's tart
Every brand of nightshade-related "Golden Berries" seems to taste completely different. They originate from the mountains of Peru, and are also known as ground-cherries, Pichuberry, Incan Berries, and Cape gooseberries (Physalis peruviana). Some brands may be hybridized with P. pubescens. There are several breeding programs to create new cultivars, a few of which get offered fresh and still in their paper-lantern-like husks. This brand dried Goldene Berry is from the original Peruvian strains. But they're grown throughout the world and the varioius nations' cultivars have a broad range of flavors. I'm delighted to be able to try the Peruvian original, which I think is the best one. These taste like citrus sweet-tarts. A good flavor though a bit strong for me to find ideal as out-of-the-bag snacks, the tartness makes my tongue curl. When you get used to the tartness they came become almost addictive as healthy snacks. Still, they're more ideal for somewhat savory sauces and for chutneys and jams. Mix them with pie-cherries for a cherry pie with mandarine orange undertones.Golden beeries get labeled a "super food" as that's kind of a popular term to throw around, but they're only moderately good for vitamins and minerals, typical of tart fruits for antioxidants, and when dried like these quite high in fibre. Good for ya, but most any dried fruits eaten without sugar added are good for you, that's basic rather than amped up or super.
