Q: Has anyone managed to properly setup the nekkst k10s with any of yamaha's hs monitors? what particular settings works for you?

I don't have the Yamaha's but I do have some 5" JBL monitors that sound great with the K10S. I'd say that settings depend on your room and source. I don't need any boost below 200 Hz, and actually cut 125 on my main eq, so the crossover freq on the sub is left at the lowest setting. Gain depends on my mood :) but if I'm going for a nice accurate reproduction, anything passed the 9 o'clock range is really too much. Just need a hint of sub to fill out the missing bottom end on the 5" bookshelf speakers. I also had to reverse phase, probably due to cheap cables in the mix reversing the polarity somewhere, but it sounds great.

Q: Does this have a standby mode when no signal is present or is it constantly powring the amplifier?

As far as I know, it's on all the time. But being designed as a studio tool, I'm sure it is not shortening the lifespan at all to leave it on. My monitors stay on 24/7. It's probably even better to leave them on since the board joints and components stay at a consistent temp instead of constantly heating and cooling(expanding and shriking) as the system powers up and shuts down. Just an opinion.
