In my opinion I would say it fits a child sizes 4-6 but don't go past that because it'll be too small-opt for the next size up.

It is Velcro. Not sure about dimensions since it was a gift.

Q: What size should I get for a 50 pound little boy getting ready to turn 6?

0-8 year old for my 5 year old 44 lbs. With a bit of room so it should be perfect

Q: What age would wear the 0-8

My 8 year-old wore this for a career day. He will get at least a year of wear. Smaller kids should get plenty of use as you can adjust the tabs to tighten the vest.
