Sourdough Dutch oven on a budget
A friend recommended this cast iron Dutch oven after he had bought a much pricier one & said the big name brands aren’t worth the price difference. Not only does the base do the same job at lower price, but the expensive brand doesn’t have a reversible lid the way this model does; the lid can function as a skillet on its own.I’m using this just for a sourdough bread Dutch oven. The recipe & method I use, calls for putting 3 ice cubes in with the loaf as it bakes, for steam to help it rise. My friend said no matter how he tries to take care of his expensive brand Dutch oven, it still rusts from the ice cubes. If that’s the use I’m going for & it’s gonna rust anyway, I’m very happy with this well-priced & sturdy Dutch oven just for sourdough. This was only my 2nd attempt at making sourdough bread, and clearly these are “new baker” loafs, but they’re leaps & bounds better than the ones from my first batch when I didn’t have a Dutch oven & cobbled together something “good enough.”Cook times were exactly per recipe. The size is just right for a round or oval boule standard size bread loaf & probably other shapes I haven’t tried yet as well.Bonus: this included a freebie set of silicone grip pads for the handles. That was unexpected & nice & practical.

Great value!
This was a great value! I love The two-in-one function of the lid and the pot. I ended up cooking burgers although it and I worked wonderfully. Cast iron is great as long as you keep it well seasoned and well cared for! I appreciated the added rubber grippies for the handles. I ended up making soup in the pot and it cooked well. I did have to watch it more carefully, as I can't see through the lid and my soup got very condensed 🤣 I like to season my cast iron with avocado oil. I'm very happy with this pot!

Nice Quality
5 quart is the perfect size for sourdough bread. $30 less expensive than a comparable coated one. Comes Preseasoned, Versatile as the top doubles as a cast iron skillet or grill, griddle. Inside isn't as smooth as I had wished but Passable

Good enough for sourdough
The surface of this pot is rough and porous, barely seasoned when it arrived. Not the same quality of the Lodge pan I have. I seasoned it once before baking sourdough in it, but still, the lid had tiny rust spots from the steam of the sourdough. I scrubbed them off and reseasoned the lid again. I have not had rusts since. I will not directly cook liquid food in this pot, but it is perfect for sourdough - heavy, good seal, and cheap (so I don't feel bad heating it repeatedly in the 500-degree oven).

Very sturdy. With proper care, it will last for years.
A nice dutch oven. Lid can be used as an extra pan on the stove when it is turned upside down. Season it occasionally and it will work for you; otherwise it will rust.

Good for making artesian style bread.
I make artesian style bread and this is the best cast iron set to do this with. Use the lid as the base and the pot as the dome. It is the right size for a one pound loaf. It is easy to clean, it's as good as nonstick. The pot came preseasoned and easy to keep that nice coating. When I braise meat on the pot I can use the lid for pan roasting veggies. The lid has a grating on the top I have not tried yet,but boil potatoes and grill steaks on the lid?

Watermarks
Bakes well and does what it needs to-I get delicious sourdough bread from it, but it gets a rusty watermarked look after washing it. The bread is baked on parchment paper so I’m ok with it, but it’s disappointing.
