BRIO World - 33599 Rechargeable Engine | Battery-Powered Toy Train for Kids Aged 3+

My son loves playing with his brio train. I love that it’s chargeable so I don’t have to keep buying batteries. It’s great quality and definitely worth the price. My son just turned two recently and he is able to turn it on and off by himself so it’s easy to use for littles.

Very happy with the purchase. My kids have been obsessed with trains for 3 or more years now. We’ve gone through countless battery powered ones. They all wear out after awhile, this one may, too, but at least we’re not going through as many batteries. Even the rechargeable batteries get worn out. Anyways, the charge seems to last for a good while. My kids will play anywhere from 30-90 minutes and we haven’t had a meltdown of them dying yet. We do have two trains but also two kids so both are used daily. We put them on the charger at bedtime, remove before we go to bed (1-3 hours ish.) The trains also have more power than any battery powered one we’ve had, which makes everyone happy. It’s quiet, powerful, not too fast but not slow either, it fits on any standard wooden track it seems. Overall a great purchase!

Don’t waste batteries. I love playing trains with my son and he really enjoys his rechargeable brio bullet. By far the fastest, longest lasting between charges and most powerful train in his battery powered collection.

Despite what others say here, this train had a ton of torque and traction. I have had it pull 17 vintage fully wooden cars and it’s able to do it around a track that is the size of my living room. Have had brio all my life and always dreamed of a powered unit, chose this one because of the 4 powered wheels with a gear set that drives them. I’m not let down in the least. I plan to buy a separate unit made by an j depend manufacturer that also apparently has 4wd and have 8 powered wheels. We shall see how many that can pull. The battery life isn’t amazing, but is enough to enjoy the train until you get bored or change something and need to recharge. Extended battery life or a battery freight car that daisy chains to this would be an amazing creation that would make a unit like this even better.

Battery charge and running continuously lasts at least 4 hours. - Playing included pulling 4 'heavier' wood cars. - Can go up ramps (single level) with all 4 cars attached. (Did not test this extensively) - Edit Dec 3rd, 2023 - It really takes the right track surface, even though the wheels are non-slick. One or two cars attached was consistent overall. Anything more and the train usually stalled. Apparently I had that perfect ramp track piece in my initial testing. - As of this review, has seen approximately 10 charges - 5 full, 5 partials. - How this all fares over time will need to be seen. Recharges nicely though slowly. If dead, it will take overnight. - Flashes red while charging - No indicator to tell when fully charged, other than the red flashing light is off Running speed is slow. (This is a plus for me, others may have different opinions) Grippy tires work very well Articulated and with wheels close together! This means it handles the small tight curves very well, even with a load. This alone makes this a great train with possibilities for any layout. Stays on track very well - very little issues. - This is a track variable, not a train concern. - As long as the track is reasonably aligned, it will handle it well. - Generally I only had a track misalignment (free floating track) once every hour, at which time the train will have an issue. - Longest running with zero going off track is about 2 hours straight on a very large zig-zagging layout. - I am sure fixed track or constrained track would work best. Appears to be very durable. - Accidentally dropped from a 36 inch high table onto concrete floor - twice - No evidence of any damage. I suspect landing was just luck both times - Would not recommend testing this though! Only Negative (and hence the 4 stars. I would give it 4.9 if possible) - Fwd/Off/Rev switch on top is not easy to slide. Could be difficult for a very young child. Overall - A very nice find after my initial other brand train battery powered engine purchase, which had issues. Highly recommended if looking for a battery powered train.

We've had this for a couple of months now and it's still going strong. It can tow multiple train cars but there is obviously a limit to how many it can pull at once. It does have a tendency to fall off of the tighter curves of the track but that hasn't stopped is from enjoying this toy. The toggle back to off can be difficult for little ones but it's not a big deal. Easy to use and set up. I'd say it's worth it.

This little engine was used only sporadically when my great-grandchildren come to visit for a few hours. I loved the fact that it was rechargeable but am now very displeased that it no longer takes a charge. Come on, Brio, I thought your products were better than this! Certainly not worth the price!

Rechargeable! Sure beats having to replace the batteries repeatedly like the old days.

Trenino automatico ben fatto, robusto e con un sistema di movimento delle ruote che permette di seguire bene le curve dei binari della pista. Bene anche la durata della batteria e si ricarica in tempi non troppo lunghi. La potenza di marcia va bene anche sulle salite ripide. Riesce a trasportare anche altri 5 pezzi che si giuntanocon le calamite. Veramente un ottimo prodotto.

Bu tren sahip olduğumuz en önemli brio parçası diyebilirim. Çocukların oynamak için en çok yarıştığı parça bu. 2 yaşındaki oğlum içlerinden direkt olarak bu treni seçiyor. Rayın üzerinde arkasına 5 vagon takmamıza rağmen bu küçük canavar hepsini çekebiliyor. Şarjı ise durmadan oynadıklarında 1 saat çok rahat gidiyor. Kesinlikle alınmasınıntavsiye ederim 👍

I have re-discovered Brio after digging out my children's set for their children! I needed a few bits of replacement track and when ordering, I was amazed to see what is available nowadays. This is no exception and although very simple in function (three way button with off, forward and reverse), it is all that you need it to do. The engine does not move fast either but this is a bonus as little ones can easily change its direction or switch it on and off. This carries around several small trucks and even a locomotive and if the track is relatively simple and the engine completes the loop, it will just go on and on. As it is so quiet, I often walk back into the room after dinner to find it still going strong. I do try and re-charge it at the end of each day as I do not want to have any disappointed Grandchildren when they play with it next. The size is slightly larger than the standard engine and heavier. The lights at the front are a nice touch. There is also thin rubber on the drive wheels to aid stability/grip. The charging port is at the back. A USB-A > USB-C cable is supplied. Great buy and adds another dimension to the Brio set.
