Fire-Maple Portable Lightweight Stainless Steel Camping Kettle,1L

I’ve been looking for a travel kettle to make tea or hot water for oatmeal for the both of us. I wanted it small, portable, durable kettle to put on my MSR Whisperlight stove, or over a campfire. The GSI Kettalist has a better price point, but their flat metal bar stock handle looked cheap, a deal breaker. This 1.1 quart Fire Maple kettle fits all my needs. I was hesitant about the price, it seemed pretty steep. Once in my hand I feel the price was worth the high quality and attention to detail. It comes in a nice carry sack. The 1.1 Fire Maple kettle heats up quickly on our electric range. The rear of the bail drops down to hold firm the back side of cover; a very nice upgrade. This kettle pours out smoothly without spills. This is a solid durable kettle that will survive my campfire cooking needs. A modified whiskey cork makes a nice transport stopper. Another review reports the handle gets hot. I’ve been boiling water for tea and can report the handle does NOT get hot. It gets warm. They must be boiling water for an half hour or longer to get it that hot. Which makes no sense. Its a small kettle. lol Wife loves it and says it's the cutest thing ever. She’s happy, I’m happy. And you’ll be happy with this awesome little kettle. Just buy it.

I purchased it for my camping trips. It’s very lightweight and easy to carry. The teapot is well built with high-quality stainless steel. Compared to other outdoor teapots with coatings, I feel much more comfortable using this one. After using it several times, it has held up really well without any warping or deformation. The bottom is also very thick and sturdy. Overall, I’m very impressed with the quality.

I am not a shill, got nothing for this review, have no ties to the company or seller. A solidly built item stands out in a disposable world so I wanted to spread the word. I used the famous stanley “kettle” for years. It is great, but this is better. Water boils much faster in this kettle. Probably due to the wider base. I use it every day at work for teatime and lunch. fuel cans are lasting wayyy longer. I like this kettle like I like my women. It’s pretty, it’s tough, it heats up fast, and its got a nice lid. There are a few negative reviews here and maybe they got a previous model or a lemon but I have not had their problems. Unless I’m tipping out the dregs (90degree angle) the lid stays in place. The lid is also easy to remove to add water without burning my fingers. It’s obvious that this kettle is a tank. Next May I plan to take this wonderful kettle on a motorcycle trip. I will stow the lid but hang the kettle from my bags like a hobo to save space and look cool. I will update this post with after pictures. *update* A++ When I find better I’ll update but don’t hold your breath. I didn’t mention it earlier but stainless was preferred as aluminum has possible health effects and it definitely makes things taste gross. Titanium is out because I’m an old man and I don’t trust it. Sadly I did not take any pictures of the kettle on the trip but it performed perfectly! The seal of the lid was so good that water would only trickle from the spout unless I cracked it open a bit with my pinky. A bit of gentle pressure at the right places fixed that problem but caused another. The dreaded loose lid falling out and burning the shit out of your hand problem. Easy fix back to tight and now I give it a thump to break the seal before pouring. How many care enough to read this far? I mean who cares THIS much about a kettle? Well, when the other options are so bad, just plain good stands tall. Modifications I made for the motorcycle trip. 1. I whittled a pretty bit of wood to wedge in between the lid and the handle posts for travel. It stopped the rattle and secured the lid. After a few days it loosened so I made another. Didn’t want to hide my beautiful kettle in a bag so I had to do something. Cordage would have been more secure but took too long even with quick knots. 2. I saved a cork from a whiskey bottle and whittled it down to fit the spout for travel. Lord knows what critters from the woods might sneak in there plus all sorts of nastiness from the road. It might speed up cook time to leave it in but I don’t want to risk making a pressure cooker explosion when I’m solo in the boonies. Besides she boils at light speed so it’s not really necessary. For future updates I would like to fashion a whistle of sorts and possibly some piping from the spout for small project steam box for wood bending. Who knows. Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy your kettle as much as I have. *edit* Going on two years with my little wonder kettle with absolutely no complaints. Turns out the water flow problem was due to a dirty kettle (Don’t wash your teapot son, at’s just seasonin). A flavor film built up around the lid seal so I just wiped it off on my jeans and bob’s your uncle. The 1.5 is on my short list now as It looks to have an extra turned down bit on the handle to keep the lid securely in place.
