Superb
Absolutely love this series of "Photographing" books. This has some exceptional images in it. I can't wait to visit Iceland now (not where the mrs get the turkey dinosaurs from!)

Must have book for anyone going to Iceland. Not just for photographers.
This guidebook is so much more than photography. As with all the authors’ books, this is a travel inspiring guidebook that will serve anybody looking to visit Iceland, no matter what you are going for.I haven’t yet visited Iceland, although it is high on the list. This guidebook opens up Iceland for anybody looking to explore on their own. The maps and keys cover everything you would need, from wildlife spots to fuel stations, even highlighting which roads are surfaced or unsurfaced. There is information about travel and public transport, restaurants and accommodation and driving tips and considerations for the conditions. This level of information is what you can’t find anywhere else, and a credit to the author for sharing.I personally found the suggested itineraries very useful, as they are a really good starting point for planning a trip and something to work with and tweak. Once I have an idea of the areas I want to visit, I can work through the chapters and plan my visits to each location perfectly. This is where the amazing photography really comes into its own. Being able to look through the locations visually really helps to give an idea and sense of the area. As a complete amateur photographer -the photography information in this book is exactly what I need to help me get the most from a trip. There are so many amazing photos and locations in this book; it will keep me occupied for weeks planning my trip. Another high quality and inspiring travel and photography guidebook from this author.

BLOWN AWAY
Having visited Iceland several times previously, I was really interested to see these guides and what they could add in planning for a future trip. Have seen authors previous guides on Dolomites and super impressed.Of course, it’s easy to immediately flick through and just look at the images – which are as phenomenal as they are varied. However the level of detail, insight and information included in the copy is quite astonishing. Literally everything you could possibly need to know – including tips on accommodation, travelling around (on and off road), seasonal tips – even down to information on sun elevation and position! It’s great to see all the well-known viewpoints included, but even then the author covers many ‘off the beaten track’ locations and alternative views.I love how James has included extensive info not just for landscape photography, but also wildlife, natural and cultural features, abstracts and aerial images to name just a few. His depth of knowledge about this amazing country is nothing short of exceptional. While Volume 1 is quite heavy if you want to take it with you – this is far outweighed by the extensive content. This (and V2) will be staying on the coffee table for quite a while, as daily inspiration. These books would also make a lovely gift, such is the quality of the photography within. If you didn’t want to book a flight before, you will once you’ve started looking at these guidebooks (purchased both volumes).

Another masterpiece!
As if the first volume wasn't enough! This second volume of Photographing Iceland is just as high standard - and has the added bonus of handy QR codes for maps that you could save on your phone in advance of going. This book is a must for every photographer, even if a visit to Iceland is not on the cards right now - the quality of the Author's photos are something to aspire to no matter where you do your photography! It's easy to see why many of Rushforth's photos have won awards and here he gives some insight into how to achieve the perfect shot in these remote locations. The only thing is I have no idea how to narrow down the locations to just a two week trip as they are all just all amazing! As with the previous volume, I would also highly recommend this as a coffee table book or a gift for anyone who enjoys travelling or the outdoors and can appreciate the natural wonders of this stunning country.

A photography masterpiece
This book is a must buy for anyone intending to head into the highlands but who want a kick-start into getting familiar with, some inspiration, and actually some extremely factual and detailed planning information that would make the trip possible. I’m a semi pro photographer and I travel to destinations like this and research, plan and undertake everything without the aid of books usually. It’s difficult for them to add any value to my process. However I saw a copy of this and bought it, it’s as simple as that. And it has helped immeasurably and saved time and money and probably my safety at times in combination with all the other ways I achieve that. And as a photographer I respect the hard work and effort that has gone in to producing this book. The author and producers are well deserved in the return they make from this fantastic product. Well done.

stunning
These two volumes on Iceland are in a square format and so are slightly different to the usual portrait-oriented FotoVue volumes.Full of the usual information on the best time of year to go, sunrise and sunset times etc. etc. and dozens of first-class photographs, this is an invaluable guide to one of the most photogenic areas of our planet.I did not have a guidebook to Iceland when I last visited the country two and a half years ago, and so I stuck to the main ring road. However, now that I’ve got this comprehensive guide book to the interior, I’ve got a great reason to go back and explore this incredible landscape 😀

Best travel guide for photographers in Iceland - Volume 2
While Volume 1 covered the areas I visited in my first visit to Iceland, Volume 2 covers areas more remote, with awe-inspiring, otherworldly landscapes. The stunning photography in these books, with insightful writing, have made them dual purpose in my household as coffee-table books. Tips on capturing shots, including time of day, year, what to shoot and viewpoints are all helpful, as are the QR codes that link directly to Google Maps for easy navigation and planning. Practical information is also provided, not only for travel logistics, but also for photography lenses and equipment. I was so thrilled when I bought these books - they have informed and inspired my own travel and photography.
