The Kreg concealed hinge jig is a great choice and well worth the higher price. It looks and feels like a toy, but its so much easier than a ruler and Forstner bit. All you need is a good C-clamp and a decent drill. After a few practice cuts to dial in the setting it performs perfectly. The quality of the 35mm cup holes is outstanding and look professional. My only criticism is that the instructions could be clearer, especially when it comes to setting the hinge offset. I had to make several test cuts to figure out the correct adjustment. Overall, I highly recommend this jig even if you only plan to use it a few times and think it’s a worthwhile investment.

The product worked as advertised. I am a hobbiest woodworker at best. I found it easy to set up and use. I am confused with the complaints on the boss melting. I put some lubricant in the drill bit shaft and had no problems whatsoever. I drilled 10 holes into maple in about 15 minutes and the bit was barely warm. It is definitely not for production environments, but for occasional use, worked perfectly.

This jig saved me lots of money replacing kitchen hinges. Nothing bad to say, I drilled about 60+ holes on my kitchen cabinets and it drilled the same way on the last cabinet as it did the first. It's better to spend a little more upfront and buy this quality jig than a cheap one and have issues through the building process. Everyone loves the professional look of the cabinets.

I was going to build several cabinet doors to replace the ones in my Son's kitchen and I wanted to use concealed pocket hinges. I had never used pocket hinges before. After reading how to make the holes and how exact you needed to be in placement of the holes, fear started to take over. After researching, I found there were several jigs that you could buy to make the job a piece of cake. I have several other Kreg jigs and I am pleased with the quality and ease of use of them so I decided to spend a little more money and purchase this one. I am pleased to say that it work perfectly and I was able to get all the door holes drilled out and the hinges in place with perfect alignment. The unit comes with instructions on how to set the jig based on the hinge manufacturer's recommendations for placement. This was very easy to do; if the hinge company does in fact provide instructions for this. If they don't, then you are going to have to do some trial and error on some scrap wood in order to find the exact spacing for the holes. The only issue I have with this unit is that Kreg uses a proprietary sized shank for the 35mm Forstner bit. So you can't just use an off the shelf 35mm Forstner bit when this one wears out. You have to buy a Kreg bit. Also, this has a depth-stop collet that uses a set screw to hold it in place. Somewhere during the time I was using the bit, the screw must have worked itself out and I lost it. I had to find a compatible sized screw and cut it to length to use as the set screw and this works. If you find that you have to do this, make sure that the screw is cut short so it doesn't extend past the collet as the weight of the screw outside the collet boundry will cause the bit to become unbalanced and wobble when drilling.

I’ve never put in cabinet hinges. Was converting a sliding ‘trashcan’ cabinet into a regular cabinet. This worked great for me to measure, cut, and align the hinges. Cabinet works great now & looks fine. I may never need it again, but it was still cheaper than having a pro do it!

Overall, it gets the job done for occasional cabinet door installations and is a useful tool if you don’t need professional-level precision every day.

This thing worked like a champ simple to set up held in place for more than 30 doors. The center hole is plastic and is getting a little oversized now. A drill bushing through the center hole would have been a nice addition.
