His work is complemented with inks by Dani Miki and colors by FCO. I would argue that Greg is at the top of his game and one of the best in the comic book industry. Pick this book up and enjoy a riveting story that never fails to impress! 5 stars! Review: A Great Read, and a Pretty-Good Place to Start Reading - I personally give this volume a 4.5 stars out of five, mainly for issue 55 and Greg Capullo's art, and I actually really liked the story and fresh take, and FCO Plascencia is probably the first colorist to ever make me respect and admire that aspect of the artwork, with the luscious blues and vibrant violets. But, this is a bit of a disappointment for one reason: it's not quite a complete story. Superheavy is only half collected here, and the end of this arc will be collected in vol. 9 (hopefully not the needlessly overstretched vol. 10 as well), but it ended at the best point is could, with a great cliffhanger. I say give it a buy, and if you are new only buy the last volume, endgame, and this volume, and you'll probably have the full story you'll need, plus with the DC You book redesigns, they will fit together better than getting some of the preceding volumes. Buy now! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ All new and different Batman *by B***N on February 24, 2017* Batman Vol 8 is the beginning of the Superheavy story arc written by Scott Snyder with artwork by Greg Capullo. The story takes place sometime after Endgame, Gotham City is picking up the pieces left behind by the Joker’s attack and Batman’s apparent death. Gotham is very fragile and is need of a new savior. The Powers Industry decides to create a project to introduce a new Batman, and they chose Commissioner Gordon to take up the mantle. Gordon is very apprehensive at first but he ultimately warms up to his new job and takes on various new villains and challenges in the wake of Batman’s death. However, as Gordon continues his crusade as Batman, he discovers a new foe that stretches back to before his time as Batman who seeks to spread metahuman powers throughout Gotham’s underworld and divide and conquer the recovering city. Snyder and Capullo are still going strong, but this arc explores the more operatic and abandon nature of Batman and Gotham, so in a sense it is very different from earlier arcs that centered very closely on Batman and were slightly grounded. On a somewhat controversial note, Snyder places Gordon in the Batsuit (and Bat-bot), which is a general trend in comics now. But any reader can tell that this won’t last for long, also Snyder clearly begins to hint that this won’t be forever. In Issue 44, Snyder and Jock reveal a story from after Zero Year which ties back to the events in Superheavy. But it is thrown right in the middle of the volume so it can be slightly distracting, it would have probably been better to place it at the end of the volume disclaiming when it took place. The story can be argued to be slightly political and reflective of the political climate in 2015, but it isn’t very overbearing as opposed to some of the things seen in Marvel and the story takes precedent over it.
