I'm looking for something that will record at least 6 hours.** A: You get roughly 12 hours on the 2GB micro SD card included, in MP3 320kbps. Quality is excellent. If you want WAV format your looking at about 2.5 hours with the stock card. Larger cards are cheap though so it's upgradable. **Q: can I record a piece to video with the Zoom recording my voice and then synch it to video?** A: Sure thing. I use mine as a primary aiduo recorder for my Nikon D5300. I use the sound from the camera as areference track and then stnc the wave file from the Zoom to the video using Final Cut X. Works perfect with much better sound quality. **Q: How can I use the zoom h1 as a dslr mic.? If it is possible do I have to press record on the zoom h1 and and press the record button on the dslr whe** A: Just a note about recording into a dslr: the bitrate and sample rate you set on the zoom doesn't affect the bitrate and sample rate recorded onto the dslr file. Your dslr always determines the bitrate and sample rate. (IE: for most Canon's that's 44khz/16 bit). The audio quality from the zoom will be better than your on-camera mic simply because the microphone itself is higher quality, but don't expect to be recording 96khz/24 bit audio straight into your dslr's .mov files! **Q: Does anyone use multiple recorders at the same time with some sort of syncing software? I plan to use 6 to record classrooms and want sync w/video.** A: There's a pretty simple trick to help with this. Get all the recorders going, then the camera. While in view of the camera, and with the room quiet, clap loudly 3 times. The casing is plastic and has a "cheap-ish" feel to it. Putting the AA battery in gave it some weight which helped.However once I started using these I was very happy with the results. I have used them in two different ways.1) Using the microphone built into the H1 at the top. These two microphones at the top are incredibly sensitive (in a good way). You can whisper or shout and get good quality audio.2) Connected to the RODE NTG-2 Boom microphone. I mounted these to our DSLR flash shoe (adapter available on amazon). I then used the RODE NTG-2 microphone and connected them together with LyxPro XLR-Female to 3.5mm-Stereo (1/8" TRS) 25-ft Premium Series Cable for Professional MicrophonesI did have to boost the gain on the H1 to about 90% to get the full range of the NTG-2, but I have been using this system now for a while without fail.The H1 does have a levels meter on the display which allows the user to identify if you are overblowing the sound. It does loose the date and time when you change the battery but I don't care. It comes with a 2GB Micro SD card but that is enough for many (sound doesn't take up the same space as video does). Despite being an 8-year-old device, it still is the best in its class, rather it outruns many other pricier models.But there are few things those are a little bummer -1. The build quality - It feels plastic... like cheap plastic.2. It doesn't come with any accessories, you can't even expect more at this price point.3. Just a 2gb card included, not an issue if you are recording mp3. With .wav, you'll get around 80-90min recording if can recall properly.4. Old technology in some places like Mini USB in the era of USB C, uses AA battery instead of built-in rechargeable battery etc. It's probably because it was launched long back in 2010 and has gotten only software updates.5.
